Morgans Cove - TRAIL

Morgans Cove - Trail, Guntersville, Alabama

This is a multi-use out and back. about 3.5 miles to the turnaround point. used buy horses, four-wheelers, 4X4''s, and the occasional mountian biker. some long gradual climbs and a few short rock gardens. it also stays wet, even in the dry months, so be prepaired.

Undeveloped trail but 95% ridable . Old logging roads with rocky sections....a few mud holes which you can bike around ...share with horses and 4-wheelers...with a little work it could be ridden the entire way.....VERY ScENIC......about 15 miles ....a mixture of flats and rolling hills with 2 climbs of 100 to 150 foot elevation gain

Park at Morgans Cove (this is part of Bucks Pocket State Park...signage is only visible as you're driving west on State Hwy 227 out of Geraldine...turn right and follow road to deadend)....Part one...go out and back(7.5 miles) in northwest direction...trail starts in the NW corner of the parking lot by the boat ramp.....stop and turn around at the NO TRESSPASSING sign.....Part two...out and back (7.5 miles)...go across "pier bridge" which is on the right side of the parking lot as you face the lake...take immediate right and go to dead end...turn left up long rutted hill...difficult climb which requires moving from side to side to avoid ruts and rocks but fun going down.....follow the old logging road until it dumps you out in a very open wide and long primitive camping area by the lake...go to the right(east) and follow well developed dirt road until it dead ends at pavement( this is the end of the out and back)...you can take a right on the pavement and the first left to the developed camping section of Bucks Pocket w bathrooms and vending machines (this will add a little distance to your trip)
