English C2C MTB Challenge - Trail, St Bees/Sunderland, United Kingdom

DESCRIPTION

Very hard, but rewarding ride. Not for the faint hearted or the novice. Involves alot of hard climbs ( with the bike on your back at times!!), with very long days. Expect to get very wet, and don't consider doing this during the winter months. The ride should take 3-4 days, and theres good accomodation along the route. Tip: Hardtails seem to fair better on this route, especially when it comes to carrying them!!! A must for any MTB Lunatic, you have to do it at least once!!!!

This is definately a challenge, the first dat was a killer, we were informed by the lady in the B & B that we were the earliest she had seen coming in at 6:30 while most had arrive at 11:00. Having done the Tim Woodcote vertion of this route I had an Idea of what to expect though would have planned a different first day if I had realised the amount of carring on the first day. The next two and a have days where much easier and not as texhnical as we would have liked, and a large push up the pennies in the pouring rain was very cold a wet.
I would recommend the Tim Woodcote (MTB Pro) route which though still hard would be better for your averagely fit person and for the fitter out there try to do it in 4 rather than 7 days. This should be OK as from what I can remember its much more rideble and interesting than the MBR one.

The Route takes on the challnege of crossing northern england over some of the higher and more remote bridleways.
