The marker on the map is completely in the wrong place; it's not even in Gloucestershire.

The DH track at the Forest of Dean Cycle Centre is solid, but a little short. Some 'extra' downhill can be found directly above it on the hill, which is pretty good too.

Accommodation can be a problem. We stay at a pub called the Fountain Inn, at Parkend.

Customer Service

Start at Pedalabikeaway cycle centre (stupid name) and take the track just to the left of the FODCA trail start/finish point. That leads you to a push-up track which follows some power cables.

There's a ton of really good riding in the Forest, but a lot of it can be hard to find without local knowledge. There's another, equally good, steep/technical downhill just north of Broadwell jumps, and some really good, fast flowing singletrack near Parkend.

The forest of dean is fantastic mtb country. I try and get off the main tracks as often as possible to give myself (and the bike) a bit more of a challenge - and also it gets me away from the family cyclists, normally seen riding apollo and blocking the track!

Customer Service

Impossible there are so many, but I will be sure to take me camera out when the UK weather (and cindeford climate) improves.

There is a nice but short track down to mallards pike, drops down near a stream, no massive drops, but hit it at speed and the rocks and tree roots make for interesting handling ;-)

I have ridden here for the last year every sunday and the place is awesome there is the main course which is very rocky and rooty with 2 cheese wedge drops and a ditch jump and road gap!If you venture along the fire trail away from the cycle centre there is at least another 8 runs that another local rider has built containing more drops and jumps and well built berms.

my mate and i were riding through the forest coz we needed a spoke key from the shop. we got lossed!! but we found an amazzzin down hill run, and more!!! all u have to do is explore and there are millions of runs there. my mate bent his bars so eventualy we had to go back to the shop. the shop is really good for spare parts which you have damaged. the outside of the shop does not look that gud, but it is. there are lots of campsites around so it is easy to stay around. there are lots of cycle routes all over the forest, but some parts do not alow bikes so watchout. for the trail riders there are also some really good runs. the forest is good for a wide variety of bickers

Customer Service

just ride and u will find one, all are gud

This DH course is really good, I like to go down with my brakes on slowly, much more fun!

Customer Service

I like the jumps before the Dh bit, where I can get about half a foot air! Don't mess.

The main DH course that everyone does is OK, but really not that special. The lines on this course are so worn it is virtually impossible to make you own, which can be annoying. Right at the top of this course is some better DH which not many people use. It is in fact much better than the main DH, and also leads onto it. Also if you want a challenge there is a 6ft drop off to take (which most people roll).

If you head over to the jump site (again the shop can direct you), you can do the three (yes 3) doubles, however they are really good ones. From the jump site, head over across the road and continue along an (unused?)trail. After about 5 mins riding, you should come to a road that turns left. From here look for a small trail. This trail leads to some amazingly good DH. I think the course may have been closed down as it was too dangerous (I read on another review that some part was too dangerous). However the DH can still be ridden, and it is extreme. On my way down I noticed some MX bike marks, surely an example of its quality and challenge. The whole course (which unfortunately has about 30 secs of uphill on the road) would probably take 10+ mins to ride (We had to keep stopping as my forks were bent). All in all go to this track, avoid the boring main DH, go here it's so much better.

Customer Service

Ask at the Pedalabikeaway shop, as there is some DH near it. Cycle right up to the very top (by the jumps), for some mad DH.

the downhill is great fun for all levels of rider, there are some excellent berms, with some quite technical sections. there is a large drop off on to the gravel road if you choose to take it, or you could wimp out and roll it. go rigt to the top of the d/h, its good and nobody uses it. there is some mad unused d/h if you go across the road from the jump site, then take a right and head down until you get to a road that turns left. head straigt over the road on to a narrow track. this is the start.

The DH course is cool, but a bit worn. If you ask the cycle center they will point you in the direction of doughies (named after the bloke who built it), the trails are perfect DH. If you want big drops go to lightmoor.
