Mainly woodland, off road humps/hollows on clay. Technical stuff, big air jumps, and very steep downhill sections. Also paths for leisurely rides.

So far this wood has claimed a broken neck and collarbone for Two of the team. But we still return ,the jumps are wild and there are loads of tricky "catch you out bits" to keep even the most experianced riders on there toes. There is a bit of pushing up hills reqd but the short adrenalin rush downs are worth it.Overall an ideal good fun location.Do not be put off by the air bandits mostly we have found everyone pretty laid back and happy to give a few helpful tips.We plan a full team return in the easter break.

Customer Service

Turn right when you hit the sandy tracks and you wil find the start of a good muck about area.

This place is so good for mountain biking I can't believe it's not been reviewed already! I regularly see other bikers down there, from kids on early Raleighs with rusty chains, to 30yr olds on Santa Cruz steeds that cost more than my car ;-) Anyway. The trail itself is set in woodland, offering technical sections, climbs, big jumps, fast downhill paths, and incredibly steep 'rabbit run' u-shaped cutouts in the hillside to go down. I did just that - 4 times - but on my 5th came off in a big way and ended up in hospital having my arm stitched up. At least I've now seen my arm muscle! I digress... highly recommended biking area, you can go for miles and never get bored. It's a 56 mile round trip in the car from my house and it's well worth it.

Customer Service

No real route, you can set out from the car park at Rowney Warren and go as you please. However, I recommend cycle back onto the main road, turn left towards Haynes - 1 mile exactly - then there's some superb riding areas on your left.

I rode these trails yesterday and I'm still buzzing. This place rules! It's got the lot and after talking to the locals, I discovered that there's loads more to come. I can't wait. Check this place out!!! (And I have to mention the fact that my riding buddy busted up his Marin Rocky Ridge BIG TIME on these trails yesterday. Snapped the frame clean in two!)

Customer Service

Park at the lay-by on the A600 just outside Haynes. Enter the woods and head straight down. Look left and right for superb trails.

Excellent place, a new club has just started in the area (new members welcome), with the plan to develop more maintained trails (XC, DH and a dual circuit) in these woods. Although the first trails won't be complete until early 2000.

Customer Service

There are plenty of trails for all abilities.

Jumps just off the main trail, but if you venture off the beaten track, youll find the BRAND NEW, yet to be finished slalom track, the first section is complete, and serious airtime already had, its going to be wicked...

Customer Service

Park your car in the layby on the Bedford Road, and head straight down the trail, you'll meet loads of other Mtb 'ers catchin' some PHAT air.

This place is so good it hurts. I'm lucky enough to have it 25 mins bike away on country roads. I reckon this place has the best trails per sq. km anywhere in the soth east. You will have a great time whatever your skill level. However, to find the juciest trails you will need to get someone who knows the woods to show you around. If you park at the car park, warm up on that side of the road b4 going into the main wood, there's a decent bit with some good dropins close to the edge of the wood, and a few good swoopy bits of technical fire road. Only bad thing is it's very small and elevation isn't great.

Customer Service

Take the A600, and turn off the small road signposted "chicksands". Park on the left after 1/2 mile. If riding there, turn off down the steep hill road signposted to Haynes (the turn off is closer to Bedford than the one with the car park). Go along the road for 10 feet (no typo), and to your left is a small trail going into the wood. If you go straight on you will get onto a fire road with the jump spots just off it. If you turn right there are a few bits of A class singletrack, but they are difficult to find

Wow. Just wanted to say that I lived briefly at RAF Chicksands back in the eighties as a kid. Didn't ride back then. Was interetsted to see that now it's a biking destination! Would love to try it! (Had to lie above, I've never ridden anything in the UK).

CHICKSANDS IS THE BEST WITH THE DROP OFFS AT THE CAR PARK END AND THE DUAL COURSE AND PLAY AREA AT THE OTHER END. I'D LIKE TO GIVE A BIG SHOUT OUT TO THE BOYS AT C.M DEARS FOR PUTTING SO MUCH WORK INTO BUILDING THE CORSES, CHEERS!!!

Customer Service

STRAIGHT UP THE BYPASS FROM THE A1 STOTFOLD TURN OFF FOLLOW THE ROAD TO THE END AT SHEFFORD STRAIGHT ACROSS AT THE ROUNDABOUT AND YOU CAN'T MISS THE WOODS.
