"F" Trail - Trail, Rodalben, Germany

DESCRIPTION

This is a great trail. The climbs are challenging, but no too long. There's some great downhill parts that allow you to get going as fast as you are brave. There's enough obstacles in the trail to keep the adrenaline going as wel. Careful on nice days though, you likely to run over a hiker around a blind corner. The F Trail is a total of 29 miles with several bail out points if your legs are giving out. I haven't ridden the whole trail yet, but from what I've seen, about 80% of the ride is good, narrow, singletrack. I had a tough time finding the trailhead at first. I had to ask around at the Outdoor Rec shops on Ramstein. If you park at the parking lot I've tagged, then ride up the hill about 1/4 mile, there's a trailhead on the right hand side of the road. Start there then just follow the signs for the F Trail.

This trail is the same trail as the one described for the Rodalben trail below. The directions to the trailhead was great. i got in 3.5 miles of singletrack until i stopped seeing signs that was marked F trail. so i just turned around. it was a good ride. nothing too technical. you basically are riding along the side of the hill. so you start out climbing. the views were amazing.

This trail is also listed and reviewed here as Rodalben so see those reviews as well. This trail is a lot of flowing fun. There are few small climbs and flowing rolling decents. It's more like a roller coaster made of dirt for mt bikers. It's not whistler, but it's not pavement either. It's some really good singletrack that is a lot of fun to ride. I've ridden it on a 06 Kona Coiler Deluxe and my 07 Kona Caldera. I think I had more fun on the Caldera simply because the few climbs werent so much work. I read a review from a guy who drove 8 hours to ride this and had traveled the world riding singletrack; if your that guy, I dont recomend you pack up your bike from whistler and fly all the way to Germany just to ride this. But if you live within 2-3 hours of Kaiserslautern and love singletrack, you need to get off the computer, pack your gear and go there now. (unless there is snow) Its a lot of fun especially with a group of around 6 people. Check it out, you'll like it. I gave it a 5 simply because of fun factor, not adrenaline rush factor.

If your not into singletrack and want to ride logging road, follow the moutain bike park trails. We went down to Rodalben to ride the F trail but ended up riding the mountain bike park trail. I was upset. They're not bad, but it wasnt what I rode down there to ride.
