Maximillins Grotte - Trail, Konigstein, Germany

Maximillins Grotte - Trail, Konigstein, Germany

DESCRIPTION

Some of the best single track I have ridden in Germany. Reccomend for intermediate to advanced riders. Technical terrain as well as some double track mixed in. The scenery is beautiful. Rode the trail network for 15 miles and never back tracked. There are several trails all marked with different markings, combine these trails for a long day worth of riding.

Fun trails, my buddy and I read the review but didn't have the same luck with a long stretch of easy to find trails. We will go again and hope to post better instruction on trail markings for continuous single/double tracks. Does anyone out there have a trail guide or maps of this area? Please post it if you do. Definitely the best single/double track and wider "wanderwegs" I've ridden in Germany. It's worth it, just don't get frustrated trying to locate the longer trails.

We started in the parking lot and rode the single track that starts behind the biergarten just beneath the big rock outcropping. The trees are marked with colored circles. The trail followed the road that we drove into the parking lotfrom and actually ends on the road. Turn left and climb the tractor road back up towards the treeline. Look for the trail to pick up again on the left. This single track goes for quite awhile and ends up on a fast downhill double track that ends up at a mini church. Climb back up to the left of the church and there is another single track that takes you back to the parking lot. Only about 8 miles total. That's the best I can do for now, cheers.

Not a bad bunch of trails. Only rode about 8 miles today. Many of the trails ended in farm fields. Mostly double track. Some very fun single track, but none of it very long. A little technical, but not too much. Mostly due to the wet conditions of the trail. Lots of holes from horses. Had fun. I'd go back and do some more searching to see if it can be connected into something a little more fun and interesting.

Excellent trail rode for 15 miles and had a blast. Mostly single track with an occasional dirt road that connects the trails together. There were some very technical spots with rocks, tree roots and stairs. Great downhill runs with equally challenging up hill climbs. I ride the trail in Roldaben at least once a week and this one is just as good if not better. I would reccomend this trail network for intermediate riders and above. Combine as many of the trails together for longer distances. The different trails have slightly different levels of difficulty. Experiment and most of all have fun with some really good single track.

From the Gasthouse at Maximillins Grotte pick a trail marker and go with it and for longer distances mix it up with different trails.
