Mont - Royal - TRAIL

Mont - Royal - Trail, Downtown Montreal, Quebec

Main winding road is extremly boring but if you have some patience, you can discover short fun sections in the woods. Most begin from the top. These XC trails are illegal to bikes so we are only listing them for hiking purposes after your ride on the main road ;)

the shore is up the university of montreal ski hill(abandoned) and beside the côte-des-neiges cemetery.

a first section with maybe 8 to 10 berms with a couple of 4x4 style jumps, followed by an of camber dual track....stop at your left a 10 foot gap or strait ahead a couple of 4-5 footers.

if you play in this area you will have a good time for week days...i've seen a couple of x-country guy with bent rims at the end of the shore...

Customer Service

up mt-royale street up the mountain you will find something!

Similar Products Used: stroll around the mountain and follow guys with full face helmets!!!

people usually say its a trail to ryde if yur outta money or dont have a car to go to bromont, but i think that if i could live at the top of the moutnain i'd hit it everyday( its quite a hyke from where i live)it starts up more of like an XC single track, but turns out into some entry level DH and very steep tech DH at some parts. watch out for 5-0 cuz it'll ruin yur day and bank account( 138$) if yur careful u wont get caught

Customer Service

NIGHT RIDE REVIEW: I have not done this in day seriously enough to review yet, being an illegal trail one has to adapt. Get some night-lights, and go nuts. The cops do not come out at night, but beware those exploring their sexuality do, and you are guaranteed to zoom by some as benches and tables are scattered throughout. Nonetheless, this is some of the most diverse night trails in terms of ground covered and cityscape-views laid about. There is the initial gravel climb which then leads to deep woods penetration with technical singletracks, full of slow climbs and steep drops, roots, concrete chunks, rocks. Trail spreads into the backdrop of the university and skirts through and around the graveyard and back. There are dangerous lethal cliffs and probably syringes everywhere, I truly recommend going with a local expert or risk death otherwise.

The trails on the Mont-Royal vary a lot. There are easy leisurely rides, and there are gnarly, steep, adrenaline packed rides. In my oppinion, most of the trails on the mountain are in pretty bad shape. Lots of roots and eroded trails. Not quite to my liking! They're more suited to extrme riders, rather than people trying to get a cardio-vascular training out of their run. Another annoing thing is that the trails are always packed with people there to practice morally questionable activities. It's not my place to judge, but It seems to me that they should rent a cheap motel room intead of practicing their "activities" in a public park! Another point is the fact that it's illegal to ride on the mountain, and more importantly, that you have good chances of being chassed down by one of Montreals horse mounted police! You can lose them easily if you're going down hill, but if you need to climb you can bet your bootie that a horse is faster than you in your grannie gear! All these things make my rides on the Mont-Royal less enjoyable, so I usually avoid it. When I used to train there, I would mainly take "Camillien Houde" (the 5 km asphalt hill that the world cup road race in Montreal used to be held on) up the mountain to get a good workout.

Customer Service

There are hundreds of ways to get there. Just find the mountain in downtown Montreal and start climbing!

These trails are made for really technical cross country with some nice steep sections for the downhillers to push their limits. The trails are quite short but you have to go there with someone that you knows the place so that you can avoid the cops and find the longer better trails. And don't think that these cops are slow. they are on their horses and i was chased by them twice. I eventualy stoped when i got out of the illegal section and i pretended i had no idea we were not allowed. Great place to its location, but you might not enjoy it thinking that you can be 150 dollars short by the end of the day.

Customer Service

Go up the wide gravel path so that you don't get caught while going slowly.
Once at the top, take the signs that say no bikes allowed.

Similar Products Used: Free great trails right in the city but can cost you a big chunky 100 bucks if you don't keep guard.

these trails are great if you dont have a car and live in montreal, so you cant go to bromont or tremblant every weekend.
so i go to mount royal. If you know where to go and like really technical steep descents and all sorts of downhill action and cant go to far its for you.
some of the descents are so hard i broke my ankle on one.

Customer Service

go to the top of the mountain where the cross is and you will find little trails that lead down into the forest.
