Boyd Park - Trail, Woodbridge, Ontario

Boyd Park - Trail, Woodbridge, Ontario

DESCRIPTION

Not your best trail around, but very good if you live in the area. Definately needs more riders. Keep in mind that the trails are not marked/connected. If you go more than once, you will be able to link your route through the park that will last you an hour or so ;)

Boyd is a 5 minute ride from my house, so I know it quite well. There are a number of natural trails that branch off the main road that runs through the park, but many of them do not join. The park staff does not maintain any of the trails. Some have eroded and fallen into the Humber river. Other trails with wooden bridges that have collapsed have never been replaced, so are both un-walkable and un-ridable.

There is/was a nice trail that connects Boyd to Rutherford Road in the north end, but there is no way to pass under the bridge. On the other side is the William Granger Greenway access, but you have to cross 4 lanes of busy Rutherford road to get there (good luck!). Right now there is some construction activity to replace this trail with a wide gravel path, but it remains to be seen if they will actually connect under the bridge. There are some decent natural trails branching off the gravel path on the other side.

The park is very nice, and for a one hour ride after work it's okay, but overall Boyd has so much potential, yet they can't even maintain what they used to have, never mind adding new trails.

Great trail system for a great ride close to home. Could be more busy.. not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing though.. up to you

Customer Service

Like the review said, go left at the trailhead. Keep going until you hit a 5' drop. Here you can walk your bike down, or jump it if you're good ;) Then.. go right, and after a minute you will be on a road. From there.. go left, and you will enter another system of trails. It's not that complicating, just sounds so ;)
