northern rouge - TRAIL

northern rouge - Trail, Scarborough, Ontario

I once came across a really good trail in the northern rouge north of the dump hill. I haven't been able to find it since then, but i think its north east, cause i went north west last time and just came to field and farm land. The trail goes through some good terrain for hard riding with lots of ups and downs. I haven't been able to find it other than that one time, i can't remember what route i took. Has anybody encountered this trail?

Dude! There's no less than 6 - 8 hours of single track between Kingston Rd. (Hwy 2 - Glen Rouge Park) and Steeles. Start looking and you will easily put together an awesome epic. I ride it many times a week. North of the zoo you can connect the Rouge with the Little Rouge. Oen yer fekin' bikes yis craphound! Aye...Foke!

I tried riding up from the south once (through the campground on Hwy#2). Not COOL. I took the west bank of the river, I was on some good technical for about 0.5 kms and then it just stopped. I had no way of crossing to the east bank because of spring water levels. I ended up hiking through snag bush for about 1.5 hrs with my bike on my shoulder. I ended up on private property that was guarded by big dogs, nice big house though. I had no choice of turning around because my ride home was at the north end waiting.

Anyways... thanks to my compass, I got a bearing out of there and found my way on to some decent single track up to Sheppard Ave. Thats when the fun started... good ups and downs north of Sheppard. Caution... very very good downhill at the old ski hill (Snake Hill). I found that I was back tracking a number of times because some trails just seemed to stop.

Good scenery along the Rouge valley on the West bank. Watch out for hikers!! Nice technical, but not overly challenging! Good for all levels...to at least say you did it once. Good leg burns from the ups and some good hair raising on the downs.

Overall a nice training area for local riders!
