Murphy Trails - TRAIL

Murphy Trails - Trail, Sarnia, Ontario

Great local trail, about 15 km or real singletrack so far. Not many large climbs but plenty of moderately technical riding. Best mountainbiking in the area.

Can someone please update this? I was at the Camlachie Golf Course last week asking directions to this trail and they told me there's a new owner of the "little white house" that has not been allowing people access to this trail.

Thank you,

Mike

The trails are great for progressing riders there are some features that have been recently added and there are ways to go around the muddy sections. The trails are very diverse and go from very technical rooty sections to smooth flowing sections. There are many people on atvs and dirtbikes in this area and some areas get ruts because of them

Customer Service

ride all trails except for trail 4 and 5 which are usually very flooded, muddy and covered with thorns. Each trail is totally different if you ride them backwards so don't be afraid to try them out

I am not a pro cyclist by any means-- just a local. To me, this trail is pleasantly challenging. A good length, lots of ups and downs, very susceptible to high water, due to being partly in a flood plain. Not that I don't like getting wet when i ride.. So try and pick a dry day for it if you can. The Trail maps are a little confusing to me. 4 trails in all- you can do them in a couple hours easily. The local cycling community supports this trail. If you decide to visit, Please first visit the bike shop in Sarna, sign the waiver, make a donation, and please wear your helmet. I also recommend getting off the trail before dusk, since it can be dangerous and difficult to find your way out. Oh yes.. wear Mosquito repellent. No sense shortening your cycling season with West Nile virus.
From what I gather, there are periodic events held at the course, so it is moderately well kept. Lately, it has been a little washed-out due to the weather, and a few trees have been uprooted in choice places. I am sure someone will be in there soon to take care of that though.
This is the best in the immediate area, and a lot of fun to me.
Michigan State or London might have larger or more extensive trails if you are willing to drive a little further.

Just try not to get lost. The Bike shop in Sarnia can give you some directions on how to get there and navigate the place. The bike shop's on Front Street.

I used to really like this trial WHEN IT WAS THE ONLY ONE I WENT TO! But since i've been riding a lot more and seen other places I don't miss not going here. Last time I went the swamp sections were real swamppy and i got ate alive by misquitoes. Single track and i mean single track, lots of torns (2 flats on one ride) and tons of little stumps sticking up all along the trail. Cool to check out but you know what i'm saying!

Definitely worth the $5 it costs to ride. I had hours of fun and felt very safe at the same time. I am an intermediate XC rider (have raced before) and was appropriately challenged. There are safe routes around all of the really technical riding if you chose not to ride them. The people who run the facility are very friendly and happy to help out in any way. They are currently constructing an elevated trail section for more advanced riders.

Sarnia...well its about the flatest city in the world,
so you can't expect too much,
but this place does the best they can.
it is very technical in places,
for around sarnia, there is no better place,
and it keeps you out in the woods for hours and hours

Customer Service

try all the routes, they have elite intermediate and beginner trails

This mountain bike club is located across the street from the Camlachie golf course. It's a 15 minute drive outside of Sarnia.

Customer Service

There are maps of all the trails. Ride them all. There is a loop of about 13Km using all the trail we have without going over the same trail twice.

The most challenging trail you will find in this area.
It is moderatly techinical, and Very Fun. For $5 a
pop, or $50 a year you'll never find a better deal.
Depending on trail conditions, (Has been known to get muddy)it will take you anywhere from 1 to 2 hours.
