Barren Lake (Liscomb Game Sanctary) - Trail, Trafalgar, Nova Scotia

Barren Lake (Liscomb Game Sanctary) - Trail, Trafalgar, Nova Scotia

DESCRIPTION

Old logging road at the beginning changing to ATV trail. Its about 8km in, for a total of 16km. Gets technical with some nice boulders, ruts and hills the further in you go. The reward is the view of Barren Lake at the end, a great place to stop and appreciate that your about 4 or 5km into the woods. On the left after about 4km is an ATV trail that goes down into the woods, stumps, holes, you wont make it without comming off! But at the end is a great view of Rush Lake. Comming back is a little easier as your going slightly up hill. The ride out can be as fast or as slow as you like. Take lots of water, go with someone, its a long way out to civilisation!

A fun, wilderness trail thats really out in the boonies! Starts off as an old logging road and gets better as it goes in. Eventually turns into an ATV trail with some nice hills, boulders, ruts etc, muddy in a coulple of sections. Lots of hills and woods all around, no clear cuts. Worth the trip if you like biking in the middle of no where.

Liked the lake scene at the end of the trail. Was scouting for bear sign as I went along.

Second time in cruising this first class trail. Rough getting there now with some snow on the ground. Road washed out in some areas, beware of this at 4 mile mark. A liitle indication of Moose here and there. Stayed overnight at the lake at the end of trail. COLD!!!! but well worth it.

Watch out for the "very" deep water filled, open gold pit!! Kyle Brandon Tillmann of Lr. Sackville recommends this place too, having hiked it several times.
