Telsat (A.K.A. Club Road) - TRAIL

Telsat (A.K.A. Club Road) - Trail, Halifax / Harrietsfield, Nova Scotia

Mostly doubletrack. Short climbs and fun descents. The ATV gang have built some awesome bridges that take you to ragged lake. This is ATV country so the trails gonna be pretty ragged in the summer(stumps, waterholes etc). Its fun stuff!

This is a fun trail in the winter. I've proabably done more winter riding here than summer riding. Now that I've explored a lot more of it and gotten additional info from kin-folk I have that live and play in the area (on ATV's) I've got a lot more repsect for its potential as a mountain biking destination. I'd even say that its worth checking out in the summer. The bridges are well built and loooooooong and wide enough for an ATV so its like NorthShore Lite. Its too bad that Area 51 is such a swamp in the summer or you could ride from the parking lot at Wrandees to this trail via the Pipeline and Area 51. For that matter, you could also connect to Hospital Hill.
Having the lakes frozen is a bonus, so take advantage of it when you can(and when its safe)
In the summer you'll have to watch out for stumps (ATV riders don't worry about them so much when they're cutting trail).

5 stars when its frozen.
3 stars in the summer.

A lot of people take that first right which takes you over to Area 51. This is an ok route but they're missing out on some awesome doubletrack descending. Keep going straight and don't take any turns. When you come to a point where you have to carry your bike between two lakes, back up and hang a right onto the side trail. It eventually deadends(unless you know the way to Hospital Hill) but has some HUGE bridges and killer descents.
