I used to go to the monkey trails, too. And they're not the same as the walking/cycling paths. They were the dirt trails off the path closer to the river. They can get pretty swampy, but they were SOO much fun.

I used to ride the Monkey Trails at Assiniboine Park almost every weekend when I was younger...that was a meeting place for all my friends...remember Devil's Dip ? Well I sure do what a crazy ride..I only did it once..to fast and dangerous for me...usually the older "kids" rode it...Back in those days we'd ride our bikes EVERYWHERE !!

Customer Service

Down Wellington Crescent and pick them up just past the railway bridge.

These trails are beautiful considering they are in the City of Winnipeg. Well maintained and easily assessed I recommend them for both young and old. The trail touches on a natural duck pond santuary, and has a lot of wild-life to see. Deer, ducks, and various bird species are but a few. Pack a lunch and bring your children you will really enjoy it.

West on Grant Ave from Kenaston, just past Canadian Mennonite University. There is parking on the left. The park has a big sign at the openning.

I used to ride here lots but not anymore. I wouldn't recommend anyone ride here because the gangs have taken over the park. I know at least 5 people that have gotten beaten off their bikes with a 2x4 and had their bikes stolen. It's not recommended to ride these trails. The police have been going to schools telling people to stay off the trails for that reason.

With people and teams building new trail sections, and new stuff the trails are very good. There are ladder runs, drop-offs, ranging from 3- 6 foot drops. Trails are a bit muddy after a long, hard rain, but are pretty good all summer long. Lots of single track that lead to different places. You need to learn were to go. If you are going there, email me for tips.

Customer Service

Coming off the foot bridge from Portage ave. turn left or right and enter the trails from a number of entrances. Drop-off's and DH's are around there also.

a great muck track.it's fun to ride after it rains.
nice and long plus many intersecting trails, a good ride if you start at the park and ride to the forks.
so if you don't mind getting mucked up take this when it's wet

on a nice dry day you can cruise through these monkey trails just like the little primate that you are. you dont have stay on a straight line , you can dodge the trees as if they were pilons. just be carefull of the families who are out there sharing the path with you. but nothing like the rush of the "night ride" (with lites and reflectors!) along these trails.

Customer Service

starting on wellington following the route from the cres. all the way past leo mole, and then past the volleyball courtS

I just wanted to coment on the review given by the person saying that gangs have taken over the park. Did you fall off your bike and hit your head? I've been going to that park since I was a kid and I have yet to see or hear of any so called gang activity.

Its full of gangs, gangs of families, gangs of dogwalkers, gangs of birdwatchers etc. I commute to work almost every day along the trail its not epic but its a decent trail in the middle of the city. Also the trails lead east to a gulley outside the park which is good for dirt jumping, not any doubles or rhythm sections but plain old fashioned one hit wonders.

Customer Service

Follow signs to Assiniboine park and head for the river. Take any of the millions of paths leading from the paved cycle path into the trees.

Similar Products Used: Ride Assiniboine park trail, over the train bridge to Empress street dirt path to garbage hill for a few laps, a decent workout.

ZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzz....I don't feel so bad that I forgot to bring my fullface helmet this trip out...
But, if you have a few buddies who are fast, it is a fun ride to race them for a mile or two during lunch time when the government workers are meandering...:)

Customer Service

Anywhere along the Assiniboine. Add a bit of challenge by riding along the railing of that bridge by the hospital where it is one-way for cars...
