Mud Lake Loop - TRAIL

Mud Lake Loop - Trail, Powell River, British Columbia

"The Mud Lake loop is an 8.5 km. hiking and biking trail. Portions of the trail are very technical and therefore the trail is rated as "intermediate"." Copied from web page below. The technical portions are beside Haslam and Mud Lake. If you see signs that say "Taylor Way" or "Cable Trail", you are on the wrong one. The trail entrance is back towards Duck Lake. There isn't much elevation change on this loop.

Man, if this is what the Sunshine Coast has to offer, you people are in a world of hurt. These trails suck! I'm not sure what my favorite was, the overgrown with blackberries trail, the overgrown with nettlestrail, or the invisible trail (so overgrown you can't even see the trail). I didn't even see another tire tread the entire two hours we were out to let me know that people actually have ridden here. Oh well at least my vacation was vindicated with a trip to Port Alberni and Mt Washington, Now there's a place to ride.

it seemed to me to be a promising trail but becasue our map man cant read maps we ended up hike-a-biking for a half kilometer before we decided to turn around and header back. my suggestion ride with someone that has map reading skills and to not go in the spring unless you love the mud and ride huge treaded tires cause u will sink in the first part

This is a fun trail which is eminently rideable. The two portions that are technical (roots, off camber, etc.) aren't that long and there is lots of smooth rolling singletrack as a reward. Don't be discouraged by the first 100 meters after the Mud Lake Bridge! Several short, not too hard hills. Fun, fun.
