Corkscrew - Trail, North Shore, British Columbia

Corkscrew - Trail, North Shore, British Columbia

DESCRIPTION

A fairly easy trail. A couple of log rides and some small easy down ramps. 1 mid size wheelie. Good (Shore) entry trail. Short, not too steep.

A trillion little ramps that are JUST past my ability. One is often required to ride up and around, all the while on a ramp. It earns it's name cause it "corkscrews" through the woods, go figure! As well there is a nice long tree fall you can ride down. I lack the guts to do it! I have been riding here since the 1980's, and I still can't quite get this one. Though it has grwon into a ramped beast. Reading some other comments I think there may be a bit more testosterone than ability here.

Ride the road up Seymour Mtn. Stop at 4 mile corner, it's the 2nd right hander (they're all "U-Turns"). You can tell when you are there 'cause there is actually parking lot with picnic tables etc. Ride up on the inside of the cement "armco". You can't miss the drop in. But only go in about 30 feet, hard left, only trail there. Going down from here get's you to the Mushroom lot, in a while, and Pingu, Pangor, Severed, and all the rest, Ned's etc.

This is the trail I bruised my nutsack on. Riding down the straight downhill log option on the one big stunt (with the A-frame and wheelie drop option). It was pissing down rain, everything was ULTRA gooey and slimey. So i rode down this log and my front tire slipped off...I went to hop off my bike meaning to land on my feet on the ground below, but my foot slipped and I ended up landing ON THE LOG with one leg on each side! OOOooooOOOoOOOoOOoOOhhHHh!! Manomano, let me tell ya, i thought i was gonna barf it hurt so bad. Anyway, I couldn't ride (or really even walk) for two weeks after that, cuz my sack was fully bruised and totally black and blue. Not a pretty sight! Anyway, that one stunt is probably harder than anything on boogie man, IMO. The rest of the trail is pretty straightforward.

A trail that I built and saw it change for better or
worse. I like it the way I first built it being technical but not killer but that was long before full
suspension was the norm , and I was still wearing tight
ass lycra and on a cross country set up. Opening it up
when moving to the valley changed it alot but I am glad
people still enjoy it even though it is now much more
technical. For people who now maintain it try working the trail around the stunts to keep it open to others,
and so he GVRD and other do gooders dont have a reason
to shut it down.

This trail is short and windy. There aren't any really difficult sections so its a good trail for the intermediate rider. There are a few ramps and a long log ride.

For some reason this trail feels like a small apartment with too much furniture in it.

Customer Service

Up Old Buck to the Mt. Seymour Rd. Left and keep going past Vancouver Lookout parking lot entrance on your right. Just past the entrance you will notice a concrete barrier on the other side of the road. Up about 30 meters and down the trail on the left. Take the first left (about 30-40 meters in).

Corkscrew is a good trail to combine with Ned's, which begins a ways down the Old Mushroom Parking Lot trail.
