Slabalanche - Trail, Nelson, British Columbia

Slabalanche - Trail, Nelson, British Columbia

DESCRIPTION

Starts off with a pallet bridge to a steep pallet drop followed by a 4 footer. This trail has everything that you expect from riding in Nelson. Log rides, Rock faces(hence the name)A great teeter totter ride(take it faster than you think, it takes a while to tip the other way) Little 3 foot poppers here and there and a great 6 footer with a fantastic landing. Make sure that you have good brakes and suspension will definatley make it more enjoyable(can do all the rock drops). Is doable on a hardtail(my friend rode it with us on one)

This is for sure one of Nelson's best rides. It is less travelled than many of the others because you can't car drop it. This keeps all the big ring king's off it and sofa riding DH rigs. The first move is a wicked ladder drop onto a small teeter which doubles as a huck. There are several other small log rides, slats, hucks and fun rock faces. I would be cautious on some of these rock faces if you don't have 5 plus inches up front (not in your pants you gorb!). It is best ridden closely behind someone who has done it before, to keep the non stop flow- BRAAAHHHPP BRRAAPPHH

This is one of thee best trails around Nelson. huge gnarl rock lines make up the best parts of this trail. Lots of stunts too, or at least there used to be. This winter there were a couple of cutblocks put directly on some of the single track sections, so unfortunately this trail is probably a pass, until it is given a bit of a facelift. Tried to ride it yesterday, and had to deal with more slash piles than in the guns and roses bathroom. Anyways this trail is too good for it to be left for dead, since all the best features are the rock features, which no logger can wreck. I would say call up the Sacred Ride bike store in Nelson and see if they have an update on the condition, but I would say the trail is probably not worth going to this spring, and maybe summer since there is alot of restoration to be done after the logging is finished.
