Great trails with something for everyone. There is a great dirt jump area with pro level drops, gaps and table tops. Lots of climbing if you want it, with great flowy singletrack descents. Soem other stunts and skinnys to ride on certain trails. Trails branch off both sides of Weigle Rd, and the whole thing is close to the Wastelands MX park. Park along the road somewhere, and go for it.

Dumont Rd has a load of trails from the top all the way down the mountain. Some pretty severe downhill bits, but you can walk some of it if it's too much. Nice little area with some ramps and big drop off to transition. Lots of fun to be had for medium to hardcore ability riders.

Customer Service

Go to the top and ride down.

Dumont road has a great variety of trails, they have trails starting from beginner to advanced. They have about 20-30 trails, and more being built all the time. for the beginners, you may want to start out in the right side of the road, there is a lot of beginner-inter trails. On the left side of the road there are inter-advanced trails, supposedly there are some new trails at the top of killer climb (i heard they are really sick}. Most of the trails have a doubletrack trail to take you there, just start up the doubletrack and find a trail. If you get lost just find a doubletrack and bomb back down to the road.

Customer Service

Turn off the parkway at the jinglepot and mostar intersection, take your first right on to wiggles road. Follow the road up till it turns into dirt, stop there and find a trail. Or go to bastion cycle and ski and ask for some good directions for the trails.

The Area is REALLY diverse in trail types rangin from insane to mundane. So like i said, bug the bike shop, find out where to go for what YOU want to ride. If you just went up there and wandered you'd never find the good stuff.

Customer Service

Ok, here's the low-down on the trails in this area coming from someone who helped build them and used to ride them almost daily. First of all, the area might as well be a mountain bike park because it has enough terrain to keep riders of any skill level happy for a lotta hours, you just gotta know where to go. For more advanced riders remember this: you gotta get high first (as in altitude.) To get to the more advanced trails, the first thing you're gonna want to do is find a parking place somewhere before the motocross track. The gate about 100m down from the track seems to be the accepted place to stash your vehicle. After that, you're in for a rather boring (but not painfully long) logging road climb up doumont road. The trail will take a couple of tight turns, but after the road starts to get pretty steep start looking for a red gate on the left side. Once you find this, most of your problems with gaining elevation are over. Turn down the logging road behind the gate and head straight in. About a kilometer up the road, it will split, with the right side heading steeply uphill and the left breaking off the climb. If you want to get to the real riding, you go up. If you're a tired little girly man (or manly girl i guess) go left. They both end up in the same place. If you choose right you're in for killer climb, one of the steepest and most techinical climbs I've come across, thankfully, it isn't too long, so walking it isn't that painful. once the trail starts getting insanely steep (don't worry, you'll know it when you see it) keep an eye out to the left cause there'll be a single track trailhead coming off the path you're on after about 60m. Take that singletrack and you'll find yourself on a fireroad. You're there. The Trails that go down (on the left) from this fireroad tend to be toward the advanced side, so be carefull, i have freinds who've borken thier spines coming down some of this stuff. The trails aren't long and meet up with a trail called monkeys in the mist, fun , but not all that exciting. follow it down until it hits logging road again and then turn right, back up the hill. You're now on the same fireroad that you came onto after killer climb, just take the first trail to the right that you think looks like sweet candy and you nkow the drill from there. To get out, after coming out of monkeys in the mist, just keep heading down the fireroad, you'll end up back on doumont rd pretty quick. Anyway, this review juut goes to show that finding the trails can be difficult, so here's the REAL hint. GO TO PACIFIC RIM BICYCLE and ask for maps, yes they have them, yes, they'll tell you where to go, yes they're easy to understand, and yes they're free. No, they wont hate you for not buying anything. Pacific Rim is in the Nanaimo phonebook and they also have a website www.pacificrimbicycle.com, so if you need directions to pretty much any trail in town just find a payphone and bug them, or get your maps off the internet. Just don't tell them who sent you.
