This trail is great and long, as others reviewers have pointed out, nice climbs, singletrack, downhills, etc. A bit of everything for everybody. It's a nice workout! Best time to go is during the week, avoid Korean holidays and weekend mornings, as Koreans love to hike their trails. After a few miles the heavy pedestrian traffic disappears and only the hardcore fitness walkers and mountain lovers hang on. If you don't speak some Korean just learn to say "chogiyo", which literally means "over there", and shout that at the pedestrians as you approach them. They will generally move away without complaining, depending on the tone of voice you use. Be kind and they will be kind too. Alot at least two hours to explore this trail system, more and you can explore even more.

Customer Service

Other reviewers have already given good directions from nearby Osan airbase.

South of Camp Humphreys there are good mountain trails on the way to Asan city. North of Osan there are nice trails near Suwon. Korea's west coast is dotted with low mountains and there are lots of small to medium length trails. The east coast is very mountainous, with steep hills, also great trails there, albeit more technical.

Apparently there hasn’t been a review of this trail since 2003, this trail is still a poplar place. Brown Mountain has a lot to offer to MTB like ridge running single track, finger loops that meet back up to the main trail gut busting climbs and rocky descents. A thing to keep in mind this trail is highly used by the Korean people as a place of social gathering and physical fitness. There are literally hundreds of hikers, trail runners, and those out for a nature stroll with small children and pets, don’t count on making this a ride for speed. You will find on this trail to be a cultural experience with stacked rock formations exercise equipment, burial sites and much more. Korean people seem to enjoy seeing mountain-bikers they will stops and watch as you go by cheering. They are very curious people and will come up and try to talk asking questions about the bike and such. I have also found if they see you pushing the bike up a big hill they will give you constructive criticism, I guess they don’t like to see someone not try. Overall it is a superb intermediate course that will keep your skills intact during your stay at Osan RIDE ON

This is where it all started for me (im 16 now). In season, i get out there at least once a week. The 3 climbs at the start are tough but if you ride them enough and get familiar with the lines, they are very doable. (well the climb to the pagoda takes everything you got). First rode it back in 98-99. Didnt start making it worth while until this last year. Its the only convenient trail around so i have to like it haha. It has everything you can ask for. Downhill, singletrack, killer climbs, a great view. oh and CLEAN AIR which is hard to come by in korea. If you want it to, it can last all day. Always more fun with company. I generally ride with the GI's from the base. On a weekend, you are bound to run into one. During the week its solo for me.

Customer Service

Like everyone else said, get to highway one. Its by the pedestrian bridge. OR down the road from my apartments.

Fun trail that provides alot of fun in a otherwise pretty boring place. Lots of Koreans on the trail and they are about fed up with us almost killing them every weekend. Most will move out of your way but be on the look out for the few that don't. Lots of small trails run off of the main trail which allows you to take different trails but still meet back up with your buddys. Good singletrack and some good ups and downs. Watch for the stumps that are just about everywhere.

Customer Service

All trails have alot to offer but I perfer to stay on the main trail because of the very long fast downhill at the end. When you reach the gravel road cross it for a intense climb to the 3rd fire tower or turn back and take the singletrack back to where you started. There is also a very fun park with some good jumps between the mountain and the base. To get there go down from the Pogoda and make a left at the stairs which will take you to the road. Go over the walk way and take the first small road you come to. Follow it and you will end up in the park. The park is split in two by a street so when you get to it just cross it and keep on going. When you reach the helicopter pan take the trail to the right of it which will lead you to a street. On the street go right and then your first left which will take you right back to the base.

After riding this trail for about a year I am reviewing it again due to the bad rating I gave it before. Since the first rating I have found that this trail goes over alot of mountains and you will have to turn back or camp to reach the end of it. There are a lot of death trap downhills that you will love. When you reach the 3rd fire tower go past the small rest area and follow the trail as far as you dare. Bring lots of water and some food. This trail is not for beginners.

Great workout for the strong at heart.

Customer Service

This trail is great it starts with what we call triple threat at the trailhead. Climb all three without stopping and you are the MAN! Reach the pagoda and slam down the backside. Continue across a short but fast single track and turn left at the end but watch out for Rondorf's rut a left hand sweeper that will rattle your bones if caught up in it. Go down the gravel road for a 1/4 mile and turn right climb up the single track all the way to the firetower not for whimps, first timers will slow you way down! Instead of going straight at the fire tower drop off to the left and head down a coold down hill and then up and too a reverse camel back keep up the speed and climb up and follow the trail it will wind up and around until you hit a killer blind down hill that drops fast and windy, watch out for the sharp right hander! Steep down through a grave yard and cross a road and up the other side, killer climb to the top never made it yet. Once up top at the flag pole drop off to the left known as Harley's ridge and hold on to your ass, three killer very technical downhills can be quit dangerous for the beginner, roll it all the way out till it ends at a paved road follow it out, when you get to the main road hang a right toward town and you'll end up at Mr. Pacs bike shop..great ride for a killer loop.

This trail network is very long and varied. Summer time can be deceiving because trails disappear due to overgrowth. If you had bad luck in Summer, hit it in fall or winter. Best to explore and try not to get lost. Good hint is to aim for any of the blue towers you see, they always have trails leading up to them. Some of these trails as the others have said can get a bit technical, but they are all doable. Have fun.

Customer Service

Follow the directions posted or explore. As I remember it a few years ago you can also make a right then immediate left out the front gate to access some trails behind a school somewhere. Lots of ways to enter this very diverse trail network. Explore. Also, Mr. Pak's bike shop will give you the skinny on a few of the entrances.

The further in you go the less hikers you run into. Fall/Winter best time for riding. Five stars because of the variety and unlimited loop potential.

This trail is pretty intense but you've got to follow it all the way out to the end. There's a good downhill at the end of it that gets a little hairy but the trail in itself is pretty fun. We ride this trail quite a bit and we're always looking for new trails so if anyone knows of some good trails in S. Korea, e-mail me at jayntam@inet.att.co.kr

Thanks!

Go out the front gate at Osan. Take the first right and go to the left at the bottom of the hill. Go straight past AF village and you will cross Highway 1. You're there!

I hear ppeople saying that it is not for the begginer, maybe not, but when I started out riding it, I was a begginer, and enjoyed it all, EXCEPT the first few time up the Tripple Threat up hills at the begging. As one of the earlier reviews said, if you can make it up all three, You ARE the man. This LONG trail has so much potential, So many side routes, some great, FAST sigle track. The only problems I have experienced with this trail are, the NUMEROUS pedestrians, and the lack of maintenance of the trail. Oh yeah, the stumps, which will POP your tires, and the rocks sticking out of the side of the mountain on the very SLIM sngle track. If you ride far enough into it, on the way back from the second (3rd) firetower, There are some AWESOME fst intense downhills. Great if you REALLY like to go fast with quick turns, and steep drops, if you run off the trail..... This trail definately deserves ***** six if it were possible due to the extreme amount of different trails you can take and end up in the same spot when it is all done, if you're lucky..

Customer Service

Find any way that will take you to The Biggest highway in the area. Lots of fun city riding in the area i.e. Stairs, small drops, LOTS of TRAFFIC... A good fun ride to the trail head, in and out of all the traffic in the area is the best...
