zao - nishizao trail extension - TRAIL

zao - nishizao trail extension - Trail, Yamagata, Japan

**[this trail is a short extension for the zao - nishizao trail. please check that trail first before this one as this is in reference to that. (clear? not really.)]
anyway. you have just come out next to the pond (on the map below) at the shelter. (by the kanji, i think that the pond is something like "wings of the dragon pond" but dont quote me). as i said in the zao - nishizao trail post, you can now take a right on the road and go home or you can do a little more trail. this has its pluses and minuses as it is very fun and a little more challenging technically than the first trail but the last part, though beautiful, is only somewhat rideable depending on the conditions. even so, it is a very calming hike-a-bike if need be.
so, from the shelter, turn left-ish on the dirt road next to the pond/shelter and go not more than 5 meters while looking right. you will see the trail heading off into the woods. like i said, it is more challenging technically than the 1st trail so maybe take it a little easy, first timers. nothing major though. continue on the trail until you come to a flat spot with a black chainlink fence on your right. fun, huh? from here, you will follow the little stream that is off to your left. there is a slick, rocky trail to the right of the (man-made) brook/stream but it is very beautiful and relaxing. follow this trail until you come to a road. where you come out on the road is between the tollbooth (to your left) and the flower park (to your right) that were mentioned in the post from the first zao - nishizao trail.
i hope you enjoyed all these trails [jaba 1 & 2, temple run, zao - nishizao, etc.] my name is joe heslin and i will be leaving yamagata after 3 years in july 2007. this is my gift to you.
