Nanakuni Yama or Toge (???) - TRAIL

Nanakuni Yama or Toge (???) - Trail, Hanno City, Japan

According to the Japanese, this is the mtber's best kept secret in the Yokota area as the trails begin less than 30 minutes away by car in Hano. The hills are perfect for all skill levels especially beginner to intermediate.

I just found out about the trails in this area last weekend and will get a chance to ride this next weekend.

Here are some websites to follow regarding the area, my apologies on not having better information as far as the location at the current time:

OK, as I submitted this posting last week, I have now ridden the trails in the nearby area as the length varies as the trails are endless and too many are left for exploring. This area is also discussed in the Ome Maze, but the easiest explanation regarding this area is as follows:

From the front gate of Yokota Air Base, turn right onto Highway 16 and go approximately 3 kilometers where a left turn is made onto route 44 heading towards Iwakura Kai Don. Head straight as you will pass under the Ken-O Expressway bridge and make a left and then an immediate right at the stop light continuing on route 44. About 3 ~ 4 Kilometers ahead a Family Mart will be on your left hand side as this is the marker for the official beginning of the Nanakuni Yama trails (course A). Just past the Family Mart on your right hand side is a small cement drive way leading with wooden markers discussing the trail in Japanese pointing up the hill to the course.

In order to park without receiving a ticket continue down route 44 until the T-intersection and make a right turn, head down this road for about 5 ~ 6 kilometers as you will see Iruna Park on your left hand side and just across the road to the right to mark the driveway entrance to the park is Cainz Home Center and a another huge building which marks the college. By parking at the park, it is free and you will not receive a ticket as all other MTBR's park here.

You will notice as you drive through there are tons of trails entering into the woods (all beginner to intermediate) and you can actually start the course from the park side which I estimated my round trip at about 12 kilometers which my 10 year old daughter and 6 year old son did today. The trip was outstanding and was perfect trails all the way through except for one down-hill area which we had to demount our bikes.

I strongly recommend this trail to everyone as the area is gorgeous and the park also offers great entertainment for young kids with the beautiful river and tons of open space to run around at and/or play on the jungle gyms.

I have no recommended route as everything I rode upon was an absolute blast, especially for the kids.
