Ourimbah State Forest - TRAIL

Ourimbah State Forest - Trail, Wyong, Australia

The DH is hard Hard HARD, but short enough that you can run it few time & master some of it's challenges. Older & better XC & DH courses exited closer to the entrance of the forest, but have been closed due to logging. Hopefully they be open again some day. (this post June 2001.)

Haven't yet ridden such a trail that can be so flowing- if you have the right gear. From 200 metres up Red Hill Rd, you start on the Roller Coaster and then into Jurassic Park and the Grave Yard. Also, about 15-20 minutes in, you come across one great challenge which is one huge drop to test your nerve. Highly recommended, and if you want, get a house near it, it's that good.

Customer Service

Roller Coaster/ Jurassic Park/ The Graveyard. Different names for different parts of the trail.

I am a local and hate to tell people about good tracks I find so they dont get recked. But with this place I just cant help myself. This is the best trail network me or my MTB mates from Sydney have ever ridden bar none !. Trust me on this one guys, no matter where you live pack up the car, bikes and esky and spend the day exploring. Please take your rubbish with you, that way it's better for everyone for ever. Enjoy y'all

Great fast flowing and smooth single track. While it is an easy course to ride there are enough little technical sections to make it fun. Probably the best XC loop I have ridden. Well worth the trip from Canberra to check it out.

Customer Service

Just follow the signs. The XC loop passes by the downhill track so you can give both a go if you want.

A nice bunch of trails looped in to a twisty mix up great riding. It goes mostly up or down, no real flat sections. Some really nice switchbacks, some ripping little descents, a few rocks, roots and ruts thrown in for good measure. A couple of steeps with drops, some log piles here and there but not overly done. Overall I rated this a 3 for technical, it’s mostly a pretty smooth course, it twists a lot so it helps to know your way around at speed. The tech sections are good a fun but not overly hard, I rode them all the first time through and I’m not that great technically. It’s almost all nice narrow singletrack when your not on fireroads so there is little passing opportunity in some spots if you’re planning on racing here.

Customer Service

6 - 10 kms race course loop. Not hard to find.

some top dh and x country trails, there's nothing too ridiculous to ride except that road gap! If your a confident rider you should be able to ride all of the dh run, its when you hesitate that you stuff up! Even riders who rent at that level yet can give it a go because there are easier routes around the side of all the more difficult bits! It can be a bit easy to get confused where you are cos there are trails everywhere, I still havent worked out which trail is which!

XC track is suberb. Not able to ride the DH track as beefy lads in FOX gear were barelling down it practicing for the nationals the following day. Big props to the trail builders, many fast flowing sections. Best XC course in the state without a doubt. Well worth the 90 minute drive from Sydney.

Well groomed XC trail which has started to see some drops and jumps constructed. It's a shortish track (6k?) with lots of doubling back to extend the length so i'd advise hooking up with a local at the carpark and tailing them for a lap. Some of the better sections are named with tiny plaques on trees: eg Jurassik Park, the Roller Coaster; this helps for post-ride tales:

anti-clockwise from the singletrack start, at a fork in the fire road on the first crest after you turn in from the main road. Head to

The trails in this reserve are "OH MO GOD, FULLY SICK BRO" The XC course is great and there is a large network of fire trails in the area. I do need to ride it some more for a better review.
