Federation Trail - Rocky Gully - TRAIL

Federation Trail - Rocky Gully - Trail, Murray Bridge - SA, Australia

Tecnically this is a walking trail, however the section in Rocky Gully was partially built by Bicycle SA and is therefore legal for mountain bikers. Take care to stick to the trail and not to damage any native flora or fauna - you are riding in a protected area. There is fun flowing single track with plenty of long & technical rock gardens, dry creek crossings, a couple of difficult descents/ascents, sand traps and picturesque views from steep gorges to the distant plains.

This trail can be a spoke breaker - look out for those rocks! The best riding is in Rocky Gully (about 4/5 kms) with some awesome native bushland and countryside. Some of the creek crossings can take a little getting used to, as with the long sections of rocks/boulders. In summer, the sand sucks tires like glue but after a drop of rain the place totally changes. This was my first experience with single track - I'm now totally hooked! A great place and a great trail. A pity there is no single track loop back to the start.

Customer Service

I mostly head west to east, a little easier and faster however east to west is also fun. There are a fair few alternate routes (especially on the northern side of the railway line) but the best riding is on the well worn main track mostly marked with yellow topped star droppers.
