Mt Buller RAW NRG - Trail, Mt Buller Victoria, Australia

Mt Buller RAW NRG - Trail, Mt Buller Victoria, Australia

DESCRIPTION

Virtually all singletrack with some serious technical sections combined with speed. Not entirely for hardtails! Excellent mix of trails and great support from Raw NRG mean most riders could spend the whole weekend (Ispent three days) with a big smile on the face. The ultimate finish is the big downhill run from Mt.Buller to the lower plains done by road at high speed or by the dirt trail. Great riding!!

Having finally got to mt buller I was extremely excited having just finished the wombat 100 not 3 days earlier and itching to ride some of the tracks I had read about on the net. After 4.5 hrs of riding the various trails, of which a large portion seemed to be making sense of the somewhat backyard map and sparse signage. I must admit I was disappointed. While the stonefly descent was good, I would hesitate to say it is on the world stage of downhill runs, as I have read. Its certainly not for the unfit, be prepared for some quite steep and prolonged climbing on rocky terrain. Overall You yangs and Lysterfield park as well as Woodend seem like better options for the intermediate rider.

Mt buller has very good potential but due to raw nrg's laziness they dont ever change the track to get it out of the 80's and catch up with the rest of the world

The ABOM DH is fill of switchbacks, it's very rutty not to technical or steep except for the bottom 500 metres. It's full of berms and is 3km long. The new track is extreme. The middle section is about 1.5 mins of extremely steep bloody technical single track that is full of granite rocks and boulders. This is through thick snowgum forest. The end of this section is a 70 degree rocky chute onto a fireroad. At the top of this chute you drop in between the fork of a tree into a left hand corner onto a rocky straight then down a near vert drop onto the fireroad with a big hole at the bottom.
Very insane in the wet. The track ends with about 10 switchbacks then a fast fireroad to the bottom ended with a small fun bit of singletrack.

Customer Service

The ABOM DH track and the new DH track that starts down the dual track.

The abom course is pretty simple with very few challenging sections. it can get pretty chopped up in some sections though. 2000 course is far more challenging with rocks chutesand a sick tree jump.

Customer Service

abom and 2000 course.

thin wallet

Im very dissapointed that Mt Buller and RAWNRG feel they can justify $45 (plus $65 intro session) to run one chairlift for little more than 5 hours a day. Makes snowboarding at Buller seem positively cheap.
