I don't know if this should be here. It ain't a mountain biking trail and it ain't single track, it certainly isn't technical, but there is a hill. This ride is a suburban bike path and not a very interesting one at that. Maybe use it for a training ride as an alternative to road riding perhaps, but The Moonee Ponds trail is more interesting alternative for that. Theres a bit of basic dirt track around Avondale Heights but unless you're in the area anyway you wouldn't bother with it. There was some ST up near Brimbank Park but thats all been torn up to make way for a housing development. Best Advice: Go somewhere else.

If you want to ride a bike path as a alternative to road riding try the Moonee Ponds Trail. Theres enough changes in direction and gradiant to keep you mildly interested. There are also some wee jumps

Pretty boring really, unless you like bike paths.
However there are a few downhills along the Maribyrnong River to keep you interested.
The best spot to ride is across the Maribyrnong River at Avondale Heights, it used to be a quarry area, has singletrack, four wheel drive tracks, a few downhills and a couple of steep chutes. Plenty of fun to be had here.

This track starts off on sealed bike paths, which we follow until we reach the Anglers Tavern. Hook a sharp left and ride across the Marriburnong road overpass.
Once across the other side turn left and follow the path around, there is a retaining wall made of bluestone this good for dropping in. harder than it looks. This path goes around for a few more k's when you get to a section where the path winds up like an "S" shape the fit and super human can ride up the track, straight up. At the very top before you descend along the path, take the single track on the left down the hill. Very steep, Very fast and very fun this is the start of the track, Follow this until you reach the freeway and ride up this to prove your worth. It might not seem to steep but after you have riden this trail you might be a little bit bugged.
We ride this trail once a week, Rain Hail or shine.
good fitness and bike skills preferd. Know your limits remember you can always walk the steep bits (ride in control)

This trail starts at Altona Queen st. Between E.P.A. and the Altona Basket ball stadium. Oposite the Kooringal Golf club. Follow this paved path through Altona along the beach into williamstown, continue through Willy, and Under the Westgatse Bridge.this will take you to the Yarravile connection. Thats about 25 - 30 k's there plus the the rest and you have a good 60k ride this ahould take aprox 4 hrs.
Myself and my ride partner completed the yarravile section last friday the 22/12/00, It rained so hard it might aswell have been hailing, and was non stop, we rode to the E.J. Witten bridge but the trail was all mud so we walked up and connected with the bike path heading towards sunshine, from here you can go anywhere
