Municipal Gardens (Ruffy Lake) - TRAIL

Municipal Gardens (Ruffy Lake) - Trail, Melbourne, Australia

This trail has in the past been used for rounds of the National series. To make the most of the trails you need go off the marked trails and cut in between the pine trees. At the southern end there is some awesome jumps that have been made high up on a dirt hill. There is also a couple of small, singletrack, and tight and steep downhills. You'll have fun dodging people on weekends so go on weekdays.

I wasn't aware this quite sedate suburban park was ever a part of the nationals. Anyhow I live around the corner and I use the park as training for getting into XC racing. Yes there is very little in the way of technical terrain however it makes up for this with a dense collection of gentle to steep inclines (walking trail, grass slopes and some singletrack). Doing laps of the park is great fitness training without having to resort to road riding. There is some singletrack south of the middle bbq area that is a challenge so it's not all boring.

This trail/park isn't ver good, all i could see was walking tracks, and i had a look at those jumps, they rmn't good either, i found sum singletrack but not much, its hard to belive it could hav been used as a national series mtb track. There are only a few sectionsof pine woods, and the rest are big open fields.
