Great ride, especially after the first time, where you'll see a massive improvement in your technical skills. Especially great as less than 5km from the CBD (where I live). There are some great little downhills (less than 5mins) that you can fit in. Note Parks Victoria wants to close this walkers as well. The last time I went to ride it (Dec 2003) from the other direction, they had erected fences etc. I'm yet to explore the otherside of Yarra Blvd, but there looks like there could be a nice few sections to ride. Note, careful of snakes lying out on the rocks warming themselves. Have seen numerous brown snakes in the area. Also careful of the pedestrians coming the other way. The golf course side of the river isn't worth riding on.

Customer Service

Heaps of combinations that you can do, of varying difficulty. Favourite route: Start off Johnston St, hoon along to Dights Falls, fang it up the hill to the monument on Yarra Blvd (tough technical ride), maybe do a few down hill rides back down to the river along one of the spurs (a nice little warm up), before going back up to the road and following it to the Boat House. Go across the suspension bridge around to the left, back down to Dights Falls (other side). Follow Merri Creek (paved) up to Heidelberg Rd and then down to the Fairfield Boat House. Cross the pedestrian bridge then fang around to the right, along one of the foot paths (note, no bikes are allowed ;) ). This will take you around some fantastic single track, with the river immediately to your right. Lots of climbs and down hill along the way, and will have to spend a small amount of time back on Yarra Blvd. Have to get gear changes right. This will get you back to the Studley Park Boathouse.

Good, fun track, easy to access and close to the city. A 'not quite legal' trail. Can be very crowded with walkers and other riders on weekends. Best time to ride is during weekdays.

Customer Service

Start at Dickinson reserve, off Walmer street. Follow track along Yarra river. In some palces it is necessary to leave track and ride along Yarra Blvd or the boring paved bike path. Finish near Fairfield boathouse.

I posted a review and gave this trail three stars. I rode the trail recently and I've changed my mind. I'm now giving this trail five out of five, it shouldn't be an illegal trail. To have great single track this close to the city is amazing

This is a great piece of downhill singletrack. it really does test your technical ability. Because I ride this track a;ot I pretty much know it off by heart but I'll never get sick of this track. I recomend this track to anyone who has some degree of skill and wants a change of riding conditions. If you attempt this track and you are a shocking rider you are STUFFED!

Pros:
Very Nice after work option during daylight savings as it is close to the City and alot of fun. Up & down single track quite technical & narrow in spots, but generally a recommended ride for riders who want to increase there bike & technical skills.

Cons:
Not legal, Erosion is a concern as the ridge track is poorly maintained by the council and in some areas the track is falling away, The council in some areas are paving & smoothing the track with gravel especially after the boathouse

great track with many different routes...too bad its elegal. You don't have to be an expert on this one. The council has put in some meter long foot-bridges where the track has eroded into the river.

Customer Service

ride along the yarra blvd. untill you get to the turn off for studley park boat house...ride down the yarra blvd. for another 3-400 meters and jump the railing on the side of the road. You'll soon find one of the many downhills.keep your speed up on the way back or you'll be walking.

For an 'urban' ride, this trail is great. A surprising amount of challenging technical sections that really test any MTB enthusiast. Ride has a good variety of speedy combinations that allow the you to 'open up' at times. Be aware of some large logs that have been deliberately placed on track by shire to deter riders!

Customer Service

Jump onto the initial section of this single track from Yarra Boulavard. The track is directly under the 'pipe bridge' that crosses the Yarra river near Studley Park boathouse.

watch out for the gay men!!!

Customer Service

Great area for riding - just watch out for the loop road right near dights falls. Last time i went I saw 3 faggots in the bushes about 10 feet away from me. They didn't seem to care that i was right next to them. I think they were playing "Submarines". They park their cars just off studley Park Road, and hang around in the bushes until their buddies turn up. I have not been the same since
