Castle Hill gets its name from the castle-like house built on it in the 19th century by a local mining magnate, but demolished many years ago. The same individual owned many coal mines which have left the hill undermined and unsuitable for building. There are numerous linked cross country tracks and a downhill course with several variations. Shuttling is difficult for downhillers, so a tiring walk is part of the DH experience. Some tracks have "stunts" such as ramps, but they are not all well built or maintained. Check before riding!

Customer Service

From the carpark, ride a short distance down Mary Street to the railway crossing and turn left into the bush. Bear right before the downhill finish area and start climbing. You are now on a singletrach network which has several options, all leading up the hill eventually. From then on, it's a matter of looking for various tracks heading off the fire roads / 4WD tracks further up the hill.

White Rock, accessed from the picnic area and carpark at the end of School Road, Redbank Plains, has some epic rides. It is mostly fire road, and the singletrack which does exist tends to be too sandy for mountain bikes. It's better after rain.

Castle Hill Is a great place to ride, well worth checking out if you live in the Ipswich area. I have been riding there reguarly for the last 4 or so years, however i went up yesterday (11/03/04) and that was my first time up there in nearly a year! and i discovered to my surprise that the majority of the singletracks up there were very neglected and badly overgrown. Obviously they don't get used much anymore, however there was a new DH track which i rode and was grat fun. If you feel like a blast, the DH track is great, and you should be able to get away with going hard down it on a non DH bike with no worries at all.

It's easy! Park your car at the community hall on the corner of Mary and Thomas Streets, Blackstone and then ride your pushie following mary street down over the railway line X2 and the road will vear to the left. This will go for about 1km or so. Then when you reach a dirt road turn left and follow the fire trail up and go from there. I'm told there are tracks in the bush at Redbank, but i have no idea where they start. Also the Dual Slalom track at Lobb St Churchill is fun.

This is an awesome Mtb Park! There are tracks to suit all riders including the Down Hillers. I've been riding there for the past year and I'm still finding new tracks. There are some really difficult tracks for the pro's but are plenty of tracks for the novice to intermediate.

Up the hill, then down.

There's no map of this place. There's two hills in a 1km sq area. Take any fire road up and explore. There's no duds here.

Customer Service

All the tracks in here are great. You can park at the cnr of Mary and Thomas or keep going down Mary until you hit dirt.
Ride your pushie up the fire road that goes up and to the left and bingo! Track-a-rama! DH, XC, FR and NS. It's all here!

This track is fun, but I think I would have enjoyed it more if I was a bit more fitter. I struggled a bit on the uphill, but coming down was awsome and i loved it.
There is also some good little jumps around that were fun.
