Nerang State Forest - TRAIL

Nerang State Forest - Trail, Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia

Single track all the way down. Some sandy stuff, rocky stuff, fast corners, technical stuff, creek crossings. you name it, it's there.

Fantastic trails mostly established by a variety of trail builders. Currently being opened up more (dumbed down in my opinion) by two guys that call themselves MTB Trail Care. These guys don't really ride, they just build trails. And since they a lot of the trails were beyond the ability of these two guys they are "fixing" them. The Gold Coast MTB Club has/d a bit to do with the place and a small core group did what it could to keep trails at least clear. The prima donna MTB Trail Care group of two are difficult to work with and often turn volunteers away with their poor interpersonal skills. Basically they think they own the place and have little respect for those trail builders that went before them. MTB Trail Care are pretty slow trail builders as they mix IMBA and Qld Main Roads stds. So it will be years before the nice technical stuff disappears (these guys build big wide walking paths and not single track).

Exit Track, Happy Valley, follow anything that takes you up and head west for some of the big loops for a huge variety of geography, terrain and gradients.

This area has the lot - hill climbs if you want a work out, down hill fire-road for the speed freaks, but if you take the time to explore, you'll find a great singletrack with good corners, tree roots, creek crossing, small quarry with jumps its all here. Remember this is State Forest so dont abuse the track or it will be lost. ALready more signage is being put up to restrict MTB usage. ENJOY

This place is pretty good it pretty step but worth the climbs. You could spend the whole day there just finding trails the stuff we mainly came across was single track. The trails are becoming more limited so take care and follow the rules. From what I understand Narang Bikes in Price St is worth talking to they're just around the corner. The park is massive and worth the trip there.

Customer Service

Enter the park behind the velodrome and then follow the maps. If maps aren't your thing you can follow the fire road on your left up 3 steep climbs and look for the singletrack on the left at the top or otherwise take the left fire track and follow it all the way up past a residential area on your right then you'll come to a fence with a park map follow this road up then about 2km the road forks to the right is another big climb and then some very cool downhill single track or to the right is more trails that will take you back to the main gates. Basically follow the fire roads and keep your eyes peeled.

Similar Products Used: There are so many trails in the park but if you want to find out more datails just ask at the office in the velodrome or at Nerang Bikes in Price Street.
