Good race cource, when i raced at the World Cup XC Rd #2, it was fairly slippery for us (U19 men) due to the heavy rain the night before, but it was perfent for the pro men racing at 1pm.
While not as technical as past incarnations, the constant twisting and obsticals keep you from falling to sleep. "The Cauldren" area (a twistying switchback climb, followed by a drop down some rocks shaped like stairs), while the most technical on the track, would be easily riden by riders with some level of experience.
While I agree that Glenn Jacobs (the UCI course designer) did a fantastic job on the flow and structure of the olympic course, it needs to contain a few more technical sections.

The course is now broken into two sections. The more technical Blue, and the easier Green loop. You need to show that you are a bike club member to ride the Blue track.
In late December '00 the Blue track seemed to be in poor condition compared to how it was in September, possibly due to errosion and no maintanence.
Some sections of the Blue course were very, very difficult (if not impossible), particularly if you lost your momentum. I hope they do some work on improving the track and make available the last quarter of the Olympic course which is now closed.
BTW, the infamous Cauldron is also off limits.

Not worth the entry fee for the casual rider, at least as it was when I was there.

This trail is alot of fun but not quite worth the $16.50 entry fee. If you like a bit of freeriding (like me) I found the course very easy with no challenging drops and not many fast sections. The blue corse started with a huge climb, twisting its way up the hill on single track with swicthback turns and the famous cauldren being closed off to the public was a disapointment, not that it would stop us! I ended up doing the entire blue course backwards and it was heaps of fun!! Just make sure they dont catch you and you'll enjoy it more.
