Recommended Route: You will see green posts that mark trailheads as you drive within the park. Stop at the park office for a map. South of I-40 is best.

The second best area is the trails West of the park office and the Wrangler Camp, including Forest, Oak, Oxford, Cabin, and Bucksnort trails. These trails have some excellent, long decents, and most climbs can be completed without dismounting. HOWEVER, these trails are heavily used by horses, which, as you know, are very destructive to trails. It appears park managers are catering to the horse people, while restricting other trail uses. There are no trails that were designed with mtn bkg in mind. The trails are old logging roads, fire roads, motorcycle and atv trails (which are no longer allowed), and horse trails. Bottom line is that there is some fun to be had on these trails, but I would not recommend a special trip. If you have business in a nearby town, Jackson (40 miles), Lexington (7 miles), Parsons (15 miles), it is worth checking out. |

NOTES: During the hunting seasons some of the trails may be closed. Check with the staff at Pin Oak Lodge for the latest information and to obtain a trail map. There is the chance of meeting a few horses or prehaps a deer on the trails, also. For more info check out www.geocities.com/dyersburg_tn/tmb/trails/trails.html |
