Long Hunter State Park

  Long Hunter State Park

Location:

Tennessee

Nearest Town:

Nashville

Directions to Trailhead:

Take Murfreesboro Road to Hobson Pike toward Long Hunter State Park located on Percy Priest Lake. Before crossing over the lake park under the TVA powerlines in the dirt area. If you get to the park you've gone too far. If it is a dry weekend you will see all the ATV and motorcycle guys there.

Trail Description:

A good area to explore now that the day trail at Long Hunter State Park is closed to cyclists. Watch for Jeeps and motorcycles on the trails. There are several routes to take with the best ones beside the lake. This is a good place to go explore if you get bored with Hamilton Creek up the road.

Trail Length:

Review:

As of 4-2000 this loose network of trails was open to all types of users. It is very muddy during the spring. When the Lake is high some sections of trail are under 3 feet of water. The routes are good, some longer than others, with most running beside the Lake. You can spend 2 hours here easily. Lot of side routes away from the 4x4's. Watch for horses, motorcycles, and ATV's. It isn't as rocky as Hamilton Creek, giving you a chance to go fast on straight sections.
