go up the front side of the mountain and when you get to the stoplight take a left and get onto james blvd. after that turn left by the golf course onto Timberlinks Drive which turns into Shackleford Ridge Road. WHen you get to this long hill the trail is at the top before you get to Edwards Point Road.

Review:

The Trail is fun and it continues on and on and there are very many different trails that you can take and the most difficult trail is the boyscouts trail. The trails have been ruined in spots from the many dirt bikers and fourwheelers that are taken into the woods. Also, you can go to the swinging bridge which is fun on a hot summer day which is below mushroom rock.

Start at the top of chestnut ridge. when you get to the bottom of the hill, turn right. When you get to the Edwards Point trail, turn left. Follow the trail until you get to the bluff. The bluff has a very nice view of the Tennessee River and Chattanooga.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
The Cumberland Trail. It is a single track trail with very nice scenery.

Review:

The trail is not that difficult only with few steep hills. It is old logging roads and mining roads. All together there is about 20 miles of trails in the area.

I went here last week with the Chattanooga Bike Club on their Wed nite ride. It was pretty good riding for a quick after work spin. Mostly double track and jeep roads, I found some single track, and got great speed going on the downhills. The view from Edwards Point out across the Grand Canyon of the Tennessee River is Killer!

North through Chattanooga on HWY 27, then left on SIGNAL MTN BLVD. Stay on this road which winds up the mtn. Left on James BLVD. Left on timberlinks. About 3 miles later, single track on left at top of long hill.

Prentice Cooper... Hike trail there is off limits, but take that trail anyway. If you don't, the trail will be grown up. I have been there more than 50 times and have never seen anyone hiking on this trail. All I ever see is tire marks. Don't let the park ranger see you riding on it. He will fine you. If he tries to stop you... Ride like hell, he is too old to catch you.

Review:

FOR EXPERIENCED RIDERS!!! TAKE THE TRIALS TRAIL TO MUSHROOM ROCK. Every kind of obstacle including riding along a cliff edge for miles! This single track is actually very nice hike trail as well. Lots of short, fast climbs with lots of rocks and roots to hop.

Getting to Edwards point is an easy ride down some jeep roads. But then when you get to Edwards Point there are some ST trails to the right, this trial has a few trees that have fallen and a couple of hard spots but you can do it...

Start at the road and take the single track to Edwards Point, then from the point take the 4X4 trail to the single track that goes to Mushroom rock and then back to the road.

Review:

Good single track and nice view. Must do all of the trails as each offers something different. This trail has it all. You might see some riders, but it is not too crowded. Good for anybody to ride.

About the same, but find the old redneck ratty, beercan strewn trailhead. Its less crowded and starts at the top of the chute straight down (no stopping!) to the point

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Prentice cooper

Review:

I used to ride this one as I Kid when I lived in chattanooga. If you find the chute, then its a great DHish run to the bluffs. And then you have to climb the entire thing back up. Some great jumps/berms/whoops along the side.

the first time i rode here i met three guys who were startng out for the day . see i am new in town . iaskd them if i could tag along and the said yes . the riders were matt , jeremy and jeremy . one jeremy was a wrench at river city cycles and the other a bike delivery guy for schlotkys deli downtown , which is owned by matt above. this place is mainly jeep trails and atv trails with some single track thrown in but it is very fun. the best part is the mushroomrock trail which is nice and technical . thanks guys for dragging my out of shape ass around that day . i have been back since several times and explored other trails hoping to find more singletrack . none found yet , but i did find the cabin and the waterfall . i go back so that means ihave got to like it . i especially like the mushroom rock trail because it helps with the technical skills . i am going to give it 4 tires because it is fun and challenging add about five miles of some jammin single track and it is the bomb .

Review:

My wife and rode this on a Monday. No one else was there. We had a map from a Tenn. Trail Book that someone faxed to me and all of the reviews from this page.
Here's what we found out. We started down the fire roads. Well they turned out to be full of mud holes where big 4x4s tore them up. So, we turned around, went back to the street and road down the street aways
(100 ft). There we found a 4 wheeler trail (broken glass for 50 ft). We followed it, then came to a T. We took a left down some cool down hill, crossed the strem and followed it to the road. Turned around and just after the stream on the left we found a signal track. Followed it about 1/2 mile to an alsome water fall. Well this is the hiken trail, we carried and walked our
bikes for about 2 miles. Soon this became NOT FUN. So we turned around and went back to were the trail came to the T at the 4 wheeler trail. Passed the trail we came in on and kept going for 3 miles. This trook us to the fire that the 4x4s trashed. Took a left, this lead use to the Look Out. It was alsome. Since we wasted some much time tring to find it, we didn't have time to go to Mushroom rock. So we took the fire roads out and guested at which one we would follow. There where a few was to go.......4 miles later we where at the road. The trails need to be marked.

It's a great trail! The best place to ride on Edwards point would probably be to mushroom rock. Their is a trail below mushroom rock thats worth taking a look at. But its a hard trail to ride down. A large creek and a campsite is down there. A 250' bridge crosses the creek to Suck Creek Mtn. I live in the area so I ride it quite a bit.

Review:

The trails are just plain alsome. There is a mixture of every type of trail possible. I like best the Mushroom rock trail though mostly because of the rock but also because unlike the other trails trucks cannot fit up it as easy so it is less crowded. If yo live in the area you must ride this trail. If not this one at least one of the million along the roadside. So many different trails in fact I dont think any one has ever been on all of them.
