other trails close by are very sandy ,better for horses.Go to Chilowee or Tsali much better riding.

Review:

Really easy trail with no major obstacles, good trail for advanced beginner or intermediate rider ,a so so down hill at the end of the loop kinda short but a fun ride nice area but better for hiking and horse back riding than mountain biking.

Big South Fork has a few other worthy rides, and there are other excellent, "local knowledge" trails in the Oneida area, including at the airport and at Royal Blue wildlife area. Great stuff...

Review:

Collier Ridge is a very nice ride, particularly if you ride the "advanced" section. Don't be put off -- it's really not that hard. On the loop there are some nice creek crossings, a few steep hills, fast downhill, and twisty singletrack. Classic eastern singletrack, in fact. If you combine Collier Ridge with the Duncan Hollow and West Bandy bike trails -- all three can be linked up by horse trails -- you have a nice half-day ride. Talk to the Park Service folks at the Bandy Creek visitor center for info on these other trails. Also, these three bike trails are basically "in shape" year round.

From Knoxville, Take I-75N to 297W into BSFNRRA.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
North White Oak Overlook

Review:

Do NOT park in the Bandy visitor area. Why? Because you'll have to endure 3 miles with mouthful of gravel dust and a bike covered with fine slippery powder just to get to the trailhead. Instead, park at the West entrance of Bandy Creek off 297W and enter from that side.
The trail however rocks. Nice stream crossings and good single track. Be sure to do the Labor Day race portion of the trail.

YOU CAN PICK UP A PRETTY GOOD MAP OF THE 2 OR 3 TRAILS IN THIS AREA. TRAILS ARE MARKED GOOD.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
YOU CAN RIDE MOST TRAILS IN THE AREA IN A DAY OR TWO. THE AREA IS KIND OF COMPACT, BUT THE FACILITIES ARE GREAT, GREAT CAMPGROUD. MANY, MANY HORSES, SO BE CAREFUL. GREAT TRAILS FOR BEGINNERS, FAMILIES, OR SOMEONE LOOKING FOR A NON-DANGEROUS, LAID-BACK WEEKEND.

Review:

COLLIERS IS A FUN LOOP....REALLY. IT'S SHORT, 6-8 MILES. NOT VERY TECHNICAL, NO BIG ROCK LEDGES, OR LONG TWISTIE CLIMBS. ALOT OF BIG RING-GO AS FAST AS YOU DARE THRU THE TREES STUFF. IF YOU RIDE CLOCKWISE THERE IS A FLAT-OUT BIG-RING DH AT THE END, NOT STEEP, BUT IF YOU CAN CRANK YOUR BIG RING IT IS FAST! I DIDN'T KNOW IT WAS COMING THE FIRST TIME, SO I MADE ANOTHER LOOP JUST TO PUSH IT A LITTLE, IT'S THAT GOOD...WELL, MAYBE NOT THAT GOOD. BUT IT'S GOOD FOR THE AREA.

Review:

Great trail. Can be ridden very fast and still be able to enjoy the scenery. Do the advanced section-only a very few places on it that are truly "advanced". This is my favorite trail in the Big South Fork Rec area. Very little climbing so the trail ends to quickly at 7 or so miles.
