CR is a good work out, not technical but good for cardio. Agree with other reviewer that it needs to be ridden more to keep the grass beat down. Watch out for hidden logs under the grass, and there are several trees across the trail where you have to dismount to go under.
Over all good trail for anyone. i paln to go back and ride it again soon.

Nice trail. Needs to be rode more often to keep the grass and brush on the trail beat down. Has some trees down and needs some limbs and weeds trimmed, but is passable. Be prepared for tick heaven. This is not a technical track but is good for endurance building, especially the first big hill climb.

Chinquapin now has it's own little parking area just South of 284/Cane Creek. I'd still park at the Newton Ford Picnic Area and ride out on the Upper Loop trail, then stay on the double-track after crossing the wooden bridge. That'll take you up Chinquapin Ridge.

13-miles singletrack connects to this trail--the Upper Loop/Overnight Trail. Piney Creek is closed for tornado damage.

Review:

I just rode CR for the first time Thursday. The climb up is longer than anything on the Upper Loop and makes fun-and-not-too-scary DH run on the way out. So now I'm riding it for the climb and clearing out the trees/tree litter. Scott and I have been really working on the Upper Loop and NOBODY has picked up a stick on CR for sometime. By tomorrow it will be much more rideable. Beware ticks and chiggers and bears!

Upper Loop, Piney Creek.

Review:

As previous reviewer stated this is an old fire/logging road that the park has established as a mountain bike trail. It would be perfect for introducing a newbie to mt. biking as it is very rideable yet still has a couple of challenging climbs and nice woodland scenery. If you want a big mileage day combine this with upper loop.

Fun Trail !!! Set your gears for whatever degree of cardio you want and enjoy !! This is not a techno trail !! There is excellent woodland scenery and a really enjoyable workout awaiting !! Ride the loop a couple of times to add distance and intensity !! Fly if you wanna, but there is no real need !!! Watch the pine beetle damaged trees on high wind days, park personnel have dealt with many but ther are others !!!
