From Chattanooga, take Collegedale exit on Lee Hwy about 4 or 5 miles. Go straight through 2 stop lights, and up to a 4-way stop. Trailhead is right in front of you.

Lots of short loops branching off of the main trail with jumps, steep drop-offs, creek crossings. To impress the ladies, take the long staircases down in front of the women's dorm. If you want a steep climb, take the sidewalk from university dr. to college dr., then up Sunkist Terrace. Get ready for granny gear. Once at the top, go through the gate and look for a trail at the end of the clearing on the right.

Turn into SAU
once through SAU there will be some apartment buildings on the right and the trail head is at the far end of them. If you go up the hill turn around and try again.

Review:

Anything from easy to hard.

main trail - easy, mostly flat; short steep, long and gradual (3°)

anything else - difficult Watch out for fallen trees. One spot at the moment has about 15 trees down in about fifty feet. But don't exspect to find yourself there on accident. The trees are on the ridge and only the most insane people (like myself) will try to go strait up a mountain about 30° for what seems like forever for fun.

Review:

I ride this trail 1-2 times weekly. It is a great training/endurace trail. Beginners will probably want to stay on the main trail (it runs straight thru - you can either ride the road back to your car or turn around and go back. There are MANY trails to choose from that shoot off the main one. Many great, technical downhills and killer uphills. Most trails loop back into the main one but be careful - you CAN lost!

Review:

The loop of the Trail is about 2.5 miles when ridden out and back. It is not very tough and good for beginners. There are a number of trails that spur off the main trail and some are very tough. There is a map to this trail at http://fly.to/tnmtb under the trails section. If you are in the Ooltewah or Collegedale area this is a good ride for all levels. You can get the full 6 miles out of it. There are a couple of good downhills too.
