Directions to Trailhead:

Take Highway W (travelling SW) from Starkville for approximately 12 miles. Then take the first paved road to the left after passing Winston County marker. This is the Loakfoma Road. Stay on the main road. It quickly turns into a gravel road. Go about 4 miles to a "T" intersection. Turn right. Go 2 miles to Bevil Hill Methodist Church. Turn left at the cemetery. Trailhead is about 200 yards on the left.

Trail Description:

Scattertown Trail is on the Noxubee Wildlife Refuge. It is a short single track loop with lots of short ups and downs. There is another loop leading off from the main trail. Maps are provided by the Starkville Bicycle Shop.

1.75 to 2.8 miles.

Recommended Route:
It's probably a little easier to ride this loop counter clockwise. Also, it's best to get a map for the second loop from the Starkville Bicycle Shop.

Research Park Trails and Wilderness Trail.

Review:

Though there is nothing really technical here, there are some sharp turns and short, steep hills. The trail is all in the woods, therefore it should be good for summer. I've never seen the trail muddy, so we select this trail to ride after winter rains.
Beginners may have a rather hard time riding this trail.
