Go south on Florida's Turnpike till it links to the 836 south. Now follow the 836 south to exit Flagler. Get off and make an left turn on the traffic light. Now drive down to 57 Avenue and make a right turn. Keep driving its coming up. You are going to pass streets called 24th Street(Coral Way), 40th Street(Bird Road), 56th Street, and US1. Keep driving on 57 Avenue. You are going to see alot of nice homes. That means you are in a nice area. Keep going looking for a traffic light that says Old Cutler Road. Turn left. Drive down that road its going to turn slightly left, stay on it. Soon you are going to see a small cement bridge. Pull over on the right shoulder. YOU ARE HERE! Now all you need to do is hold on to your cojones amigo and ride. |
Trail Description: |
Alot of interlocking trails. There is all sort of riding, wooded, sandy, coral, roots, mud, and gravel. Oh yeah I thought I might tell you there is also four steep drop offs that are cool. And if you bring your fishing rod's you may as well catch a snapper or two. These are not trails for beginers. They are sort off hard. But hey what the heck, NO PAIN,NO GLORY. SEE YOU THERE, (Carlman65@hotmail.com) |

Also Miamians, I have found some very promising land with ,get this, a few MILES, (YES MILES) of a forty foot high mound on land that already has been designated part of the green way project. I need an army to get this going, but it will rival central florida's MTB parks if we get this going, and forget about MARKUM OLETA Snapper and Amelia for good! If you are serious and aren't afraid to blaze the best MTB park in all of South Florida get a hold of me. |

While it's tempting to say that a little hard work could return the trails to some of their former "glory," the reality of Dade County politics tells me that this is a lost cause. Let's face it: this is about $500 million of bayfront property, no doubt obtained in some shady political land swap, surrounded by the palatial estates of Dade's power brokers. What little access the common taxpayer has to this land will soon be denied. If tradition holds, what will happen is that this chunk of weeds and Australian pines will be declared a "protected natural area," surrounded by a 20-foot chainlink fence, and completely cut off from the general public, save the few who can boat to the tiny "picnic area" that will no doubt be erected on a nearly inaccesible doormat of land. Then, about 10 years or so from now, it will miraculously stop be a protected area, be sold to a well-connected developer, and become a bunch of million-dollar condos. The passing of this trail leaves us in the ridiculous position of having one trail system (unless you include the never-open Amelia Earhart) in all of Dade County, and none anywhere near South Dade. This is just wrong. If anyone has any ideas or motivation, e-mail me. |
