Review:

Im new to the biking scene, only started about 7 months ago and mainly ride the trail at Quiet Waters. As some other have stated during summer unless it rains quite often, the trail does become very slow, but the wood ramps theyve covered the rim deep sand with on the backside of the trail help this problem. In addition recently while prepping the course for a race, I saw a few things added, such as that 30 ft clay hill that was a little ways in..... while now its like a 4 ft drop off a ramp, followed by a 20 ft log about 10 inches around that you have to be extremely skilled and balanced to ride through. This is a course for beginning riders I would agree, but you have to be prepared anytime you ride a course just in case something should happen. Best rule I ever learned from my friend was if you doubt yourself, dont do it. All in all this trail is great, its fast, its a good workout, and its all shaded so even on those hot summer days its a good place to go. Definitely not as technical or challenging as say Markham or Oleta, but I would personally recommend this trail to anyone who wants to do a few laps for endurance and for speed. If you want technical stuff I recommend Markham or Oleta for those.

ok enough of that, he got me to touch my toes and walk towards him then do squats LOL, ok now on to the trail, before I found the flow and realized what this trail has to offer I would give it 2 tires, but now that I ride it more I give it four, that and the parks trails are progressing all the time, its a great trail system.

Review:

Ok in reviewing this trail as well as any other trails here in South Florida I will refrain from the use of the word “climb”and any form there of it..ie Climbed Climbing Climbs(multiple)..you get the point..

To start, this place Quiet Waters Park sometimes referred to as “QWP”or “QW” by local trendy hipsters is not worth an hour drive either north or south of wherever you may reside ..Local Residents of Deerfield ride it because of convienence..(the only excuse to) a little farther to the north you have Boca Raton a neighborhood with residents as plastic as saran. They will usually show up sporting their HumVee or Ferrari only to hatch a mountain bike that looks like something sold at Supergo under the alias Weyless..Their steeds actually come from a company that ships their imports from Santa Cruz..and usually refer to them as being Super and Light?? With their latest/lightest component package and 100oz camelbacks you will be able to find some humor as they attack this 20 minute loop of sugarsand and pancake style switchbacks over thousands of GumboLimbo tree roots .Even more humorous is that there are individualized names for the tiny sections of singletrack..ie piss ant trail,Minute trail The Clay Hill????????what hill…..This whole place could fulfill the name of the “20 minute trail” ..

On Race Wednesdays you will encounter some of the fastest one lappers south of Clint Moore Rd.all I have to say hold on tight because any one of them is capable of putting the smack down on any given lap.

and last but not least has to be the quartet of Freeride bikes sporting 7+ inches of travel ,8” rotors and 2.35 circles to tame this fierce jungle that would Give The North Shore a run for it’s money…??? I mean c’mon guys is this the same trail system that I see children with their parents on during family picnics ??.

Truly you really cannot consider this a Mountain Bike trail..Path in a park yes but not a MTB trail..however when riding there do use caution this park is notorious for ankle bruises and don’t forget that” mean old fence in the back”..Oh by the way, the reason that fence is there is to keep out any unwanted vagrants.. you see this park is surrounded by Interstates on all four sides…. It makes for nice peace and tranquility especially around rush hour… but hey they do have trail maintenance every 2nd Sunday of the month and you even get free Pizza…Beer Yum yum……….

To get the feel of how this trail rides, throw a bunch of loose rocks and wooden dowels on the sidewalk in front of your house, and then hit it going about 12mph while zig zagging. This works especially well if you live on oceanfront property so you can cruise thru about a mile of sand. I apologize to the crew that maintains the trail, it’s obvious you guys work hard on it and that your battling Mother Nature, but people drive long distances based on these reviews.

Review:

I have reviewed this trail before, and it's improving nicely. I had not been here for about 8 months because I thought I should be doing something more productive with my life, which eventually brought me back to the most productive thing in life, riding. Okay, enough about me. The trail crew here is great. There are numerous wooden platforms at the end of the trail sectioned off. Trick stuff. Stairs, Jumps etc... On the trail they have added dropoffs or launches, depending on your skills. The trail has roots, but they slow you enough to where you don't end up face down in the sand, after kissing a tree. This trail is a good place to train for other trails around the area, Oleta, Markem Park. It is a little rough on a hard tail but achievable. I need somebody to tell me who the guy is, that sits at the beginning of the trail sometimes. He just sits there and has guys doing streches, jumping jacks, squad thrusts, etc. I can't believe the guys actually do this stuff. Guys please, do that stuff in a gym, not in front of some guy in a park. It just looks weird. He always asks me if I'm going to be racing this weekend. No I'm not. If I'm racing, I'll time myself, thanks. Ok, maybe he was a coach at one time, but its still a little strange. Final thought: Guys, Girls, go ride this place. Its fun.

There's a new trail in the first section that is a bit more technical (good work maintenance) and there there 3-4 more big jumps at the end of the trail so it's attracting different kind of riders now.Just keep in mind the trail is also a fast trail so those guys doing the jumps should not block the trail at the end. It's just a few guys most are ok so ride as much as you can.
I went this morning 7:30am and the doors were close.
Does anybody knows at what time they usually open this morning open 8:00am is that normal?
thanks in advance for answer.

This is a good ride, pretty short, but a nice break to hit a different trail. The terrain is very rooty on the backside and some areas a tad hard to follow the trail. It's getting better everytime I go back so maintenance is picking up. There are some fun sections with some hills and little jumps. There are areas where the sugarsand feels like quicksand. Over all a good little trail.

These trails were in excellent condition when I raced there two weeks ago. Whoever does the maintenance on them does a great job. Keep up the good work! That said, I would say that these trails are a less technical version of Oleta in N. Miami Bch. Some really fast sections with a lot of switchbacks and low branches. Some rooty sections and an area to "play" in with some small hills and jumps.

I see a lot of people pissing and moaning about the poor trail maintenance here. No one gets paid to maintain these trails, it is all volunteer work. Why don't some of you sorry whiners get off your arses and pitch in once in a while?

That said, this trail has a lot of potential, but it takes a lot of work (volunteers anyone?). No it is not the most challenging, technical course in the area, but it has plenty for beginners and intermediates to practice on so they can move up to more technical stuff. Overall a pretty nice trail. Definitely a good cardio workout. With more volunteers this trail could really be great. Hint, hint!

I ride here 2-3 times a week sometimes twice a day. I come in the morning and ride flatout for a couple of laps, then return in the late afternoon with my 11 y/o son. We both ride high end hardtails.

The trail has matured really well. the group that maintains it has done an outstanding job!!

In reading other reviews on this trail, I have to agree that it is an Intermediate trail at best. It offers some unique challenges though. The climb in the begining of the trail is tough to master! It took me several trys to make it over that sucker. I have friends that are great riders that have yet to make it to the top. Its followed by a great 10'-12' drop with a choice of a small double jump to the left or a wood bridge jump straight at the bottom, both are fun! I hit the double if its wet as the wood can be very slick!! The Roots that we all love are also here in abundance! Then there are the rocks! I havent found this trail to be overly dangerous but... like all of them you have to respect your own limits. I do miss the jump at the end of the trail. It made for a fun little free ride area! I guess too many people got hurt.

I have taken a new interest in this trail lately and have been really hitting the technical areas as hard as possible and maintaining a recovery pace on the open areas. This is the opposite of how I was training. The change has really made a difference! I can blast through the tech sections SOOO much faster now and with way less fatigue! (This has really helped me at other more difficult trails)

The Park has a lot to offer other than the MTB trail. Water skiing, camping, a water park. canoes and sailing.

If your a seasoned racer looking for a place to train or a newbee looking for a place to start, Quiet waters is a great trail.

Review:

Quiet Waters is fun, sure it isn't as technical as Oleta or Markham, but it's fast and entertaining if you don't take the racer-boy weenie lines.

This trail is the wicked stepchild of the SoFla trails, it needs some attention to make it better. The trail crew has big plans, adding trail and new bridges, but it needs volunteers. They have the support of the park and the money to do what they want, but they don't have the labor or the input of riders that is necessary to make things happen. Trail maintenance is on the 2nd sunday of every month at 9:00. They are willing to add jumps and technical challenges to the trail (they do not remove roots or smooth the trail, and they only removed the jumps because Quiet Waters required them to do it), but they just don't have the volunteers.

Quiet Waters is a great place for beginners to learn, the trails can be challenging and offer a variety of riding environments, but it can also be fun for experienced riders (you just have to go faster!). I recommend it to anyone who's looking for a good time.

First time on this trail. Took my kids (15 & 11 year old boys) to the trial on 5/25 (Saturday) and had a really good time, except on that last jump. It reminded me of the old days at KMART in WPB with the loops and turns, and the kind of a roller coaster ride under shady Australian pines. However, on the last, really cool jump near the exit of the trail we spent an extra moment honing our "getting air" skills. I had to just go for one more jump. Down the first hill doing good, hit the second hill kind of off to the side, got air, got crooked on landing, and got a broken clavicle...ouch. Smack the ground hard hitting my helmet (Bell - Aquila) hard enough to crack it, and took most of the other force on my right shoulder. Pain, sharp pain I knew at once.

My kids were awesome not freaking out and helping get their old man back to the car. I drove back home, then went to the hospital. Doing fine, will be back to Quiet Waters again in about 4 to 6 weeks. What a really nice trail.

This trail is for novices and intermediates. Utility roads and single track trails that loop around crystal lakes under shade trees. I ride a MongoosePro Zero-G3 (full suspension) bike and it handled very well, the 15 yr. old was riding a Mongoose Switchback (my old bike) 1992 model (no suspension) and he really did well with it getting great controlled air jumps, the 11 yr. old rode a hard tail Costco bike that did well too. I will return to Quiet Waters ASAP.

A really nice park with, I guess you'd say, "man-made" trails. Lots of whoop-de-dos and twisties. At least one hellish 10-foot dropoff, and a few little ones elsewhere too. Scenery is very pretty, toward the back there's a place where the trail goes through a Brazilian Pepper grove and the branches are all knotted overhead.

My only complaint: saaaannnd. Sand, sand, sand. That back area has powder sand about 6-8 inches deep, and there's a spot next to a bridge by a ravine that's even deeper. I've never seen *anyone* get through that crap successfully and I've seen a coupla people crash and burn horribly.

But as I said the park is nice. There's that ski-tow you can try out, there's playgrounds, camping areas and picnic tables, the "official" website says you can even rent canoes and such. And there's also the water park back there for the kiddies. And lots of paved trails for rollerblading. And every spring they hold a Renaissance Festival way over the other corner of the park. Real nice place.

hey camel kum, you say you were a pro in cuba. are you a pro here in the states? i agree that this trail isn't very difficult but not every trail has to be like markham. if every trail was like that there wouldn't be as many people riding because they would all get discouraged or seriously injured trying to learn. QW is a good place to learn if you are a beginner and if you are more advanced you can try and see how fast you can go through the trail. and it's great if you want to ride off a hangover. markham would be a bit much with a hangover but QW is perfect for just that scenario. i also read in "BIKE MAGAZINE" that this trail and oleta are in danger of closing due to illegal bridges and trails. i think this place could use more advanced bridges. just mark them with a black diamond or something so that inexperienced riders know to beware. there was a cool little bridge right after the first long bridge after the hill that is no longer in existence. i suspect that was one of the illegal bridges. why are they illegal? there is a sign clearly stating at the trail head to "ride at your own risk". right now it should read "ride at your own leisure". give us some risk to ride at and we will. get some big bridges approved by the guys in the office who probably don't even ride a bike.

I went to this park with alot of anticipation last thursday but after the first trail I could'nt wait to get the hell out of there. With all do respect to the guys who maintain the trails, this place was an absolutely dump, literaly! In the back trails there was trash all over the place. A bit rooty and absolutely no real technical sections unless you call sugar sand on climbs technical. I call it a waste of time. The setup around the lake is one of the best but the trails suck. If they were better it would be a better ride. It was nice to actually stop riding and look over the lake. I would rate Amelia Earhart park way more technical than this dump! If you have to ride this park because it is the closest to you, sorry.

Sometimes being at the right place at the right time can completley change the way you ride. Went out today, was overcast and VERY WINDY. A Bit muddy in the beginning, the clay hill was very slippery! But, for the most part the trail was suprisingly fast! All the rain has finally packed down a lot of sections that used to be some pretty miserable sugar sand. There are also some places where the lake has expanded into some places where there USED to be single track. Overall a great ride!

Review:

I broke my cherry on this trail. I became a decent and confident rider hammering this course once a week, but now it has become a bit of boring, especially since the clay was added that smoothed out what once was the big drop near the lake. That used to be my favorite part. Now, it's just a harmless slope. This trail is definitely the place to work on your basic skills, and I recommend it to all novices or those who have been out of the sport for awhile. The big hill at the beginning is the only semi-advanced part of this trail now. To scale it, you have to hit that mother wide open and pick a good line. If you've got the legs and lungs, it's a piece of cake. The trail is maintained wonderfully, but I'd love to see a more advanced trail get cut. Until then, I'll only visit once a month for a good cardio workout.

Review:

I have ridden this trail only once. After riding Markham park for several months now, it was refreshing to come here. The only time I rode this trail was just before a major endurance race, so the trail was covered with red Georgia clay. It looked as if some of the major obstacles were "smoothed" out for the up and coming race. The back sugar sand area, just before entering the forest had some chain link fence laid down. I really thought the maintenance of this park was outstanding. Hats off to the regulars who give their time to keep the trails up. Not only was it packed the day I rode, but it stormed on us. The heavy rain made the roots even more challenging. I must say, even though I had never been here before, the trails were plainly marked, and I was able to hammer the trail pretty hard. The major climb at the begining, I had to try that twice before I got the technique down to get to the top. Very nice!!! There are other reviews on here that absolutely NAIL this trail perfectly. I would say, watch out for that crome bumper... made me giggle when I saw it. Not used to seeing stuff like that on trails... I highly recommend this ride to beginers and advanced riders alike. Beginers can work on confidence and technical skills, while advanced riders can time themselves and run some pretty fast splits. Fortunately, my riding buddy is faster than me, so I get a great workout chasing him... Again, hats off to the trail maintenance people.. great job. I will definately start riding here once a week to work on speed.

This trail has a novice and intermediate section throughout. There are pine trees all over, which have fallen on trail, bent down to block trail. The trees give the trail lots of excitement. You can wash your bike after you went through, because the trail has clay, rock, sand, roots, water, etc. There are a series of lakes all around the park. And a couple of wooden bridges. The clay hill is about as tough as it gets. You have to go nearly vertical to get to the top. The trail is fun to ride when wet. The best time to go is during the week, while everyone is at work. That way, you won't see to many riders. Because when there is too many, it is like a traffic jam. Anyone can go, i saw a kid there that looked 7-10. I am 15 myself, but i have also seen older and more skilled people too. If you like 20 ft hills and 5 ft drops, then you have to come to this trail. Also, the trails are used in professional offroad biking tournaments.

This is an excelent place for the biginners and just becoming intermidiate riders. The trails are well maintained, pretty ridable and is more or less like Oleta's trails. There is only one huge climb which is almost imposible to make it to the top and a huge 70 degrees drop. Everthing else is just ice on the cake in this park, the climbs are shorts, and the trails aren't bumpy like in Oleta or Markam. You can do the whole park in thirty minutes if you are a fast rider.

I am a Californian used to pretty challenging rides. Florida is pretty flat compared to what I usually ride, but I was grateful to get in a nice ride on my recent visit. I had to rent a bike from the shop right across from the park which cost 30 bucks for a couple of hours and had a loose seat post clamp, but other than that, I enjoyed the ride. The people who built the trail managed to squeeze a lot of trail into a small area by making it twisty and turny. The roots were fun to hop around on and the greeery was nice to be in. One of the highlights of my trip to South Florida.

Intermediate Course, this course is sweet! I usually ride Southern/441 . First time today for the ride. The trails are maintained very well. The thing I liked the most is even though the course isn't that long it isn't a boring course. There are some nice mellow trails to cool down on along the way. And is has a good balance of technical stuff spread throughout. I like to catch a little air anywhere I go so I was pleased at the layout. I heard of the sugar sand section, but fortunately for us it had rained recently and the trails were packed hard and moist. The roots aren't bad at all in my opinion as the other post. The extended section that was added recently was nice, it will be better when more ride time wears the trail in. A little boring on the first half but the rest of the trail coming back is full of switchbacks. They will definetly keep you busy. A very good in the middle ride, not too technical and not too flat, just right. BTW the old man in the front, just as the other post described. But the guy is stand up, he likes what he does and it is a hobby of his, give him a break. The one thing that sucks with alot of mountainbikers is the ability to speak a kind word. You know like maybe hi! hey! how's it going! what's up! Most of the ones we saw out there were decent enough to give atleast a nod. But definetly a good trail.

Alright, now let's get this straight, all of you....

-You start out from the basic trailhead, have a series of winds at the beginning, you will wind up climbing some 5-10ft. clay hills on the first Intermediate Cut-off. Lots of roots, at this section, and stair drops, fun...

-Once the Intermediate loops back into the Novice, you continue forward to another Intermediate Cut-off, here you must gain a considerable amount of speed to climb this 25ft.(no 30ft.!!!), at the peak you'll cruise around alittle loop to the chute, gain speed here, and then fly over the ditch(if your good enough, other-wise you'll loose speed).

-Wind and wind,as the 2trails connect back. You'll stay like this for about 3/4 amile, were intermediate cuts-off for 50yards of fun little hills...

-Stay connected when the 2trails meet again for alittle less than 1mile, cross the two-way crossing, and the bridge, then intermediate cuts-off for about20yards to climb a clay hill, and rocket down it(look out for the rock at the hair-pin at the bottom).

-You stay winded for a ver long time 1 1/2 miles maybe. Then, intermediate cuts off 2times for a very short distance to do alittle drops and stuff...

-Eventually you'll come to the Novice Turn-around were the 2trails meet up again...

-If you decided to do the 3-4mile intermediate loop, it's the most technical part of the course do to the low clearance and bridges and sand. This will make you get out the saddle at on point. It's reall windy and is a great part for experienced riders.

-When the loop connects back to the Novice Turn-around, take the trail, and start back...

Should you choose Intermediate, you'll find vast rocky hills that you climb, and then wind down. You will take a ride by the water were theres a nice stair drop that can catch you a couple times. Twist threw this and take a fun little jump-type hill out of this section and connect back to novice trail.

-You'll come upon another cut-off were intermediate takes you on a astray, crazy rooty, section. You'll jump logs, and need alittle climbing, then downhill your climb and wind around. Theres a old chrome mustang bumber sticking up(i just had to say that cause i always laugh when i go by it), and then ride back to the novice.

-You'll stay one trail for a good 2miles, were intermediate breaks-off one last time and takes you climbing a hill, and rocketing down it just again, turn, climb some more, then drop on rail-road ties. Then, connect directly to Novice.

-Ride 1/2mile to the exit on some stair drops and nice roots.

Have fun.....

I'm 11. This is a fun trail to ride. but it's kinda cunfusing in parts (i ended up goin backword on the intermediate trail.) It's got some big roots i like to hit and get air off of. There's a nice 1ft. drop towards the end of the trail that's fun to get air off of also. After that if u get enough speed u can get over a hill with lots of roots and trees to go in between. The clay hill is fun too. It's got a nice drop after it too that u get some nice speed off of. At the end there's a cool bridge that goes over a pond. I thought it was great.

Unfortunately the one and only time I rode this trail was in a race at the peak of the dry season. The begining of the trail is great with technical stuff right around the first corner. but once you cross the fence to the back section you might as well pick your bike up and walk because it is so soft you have to have a dirt bike to get through the first section. Once you round the 90 on the back fence you can finally ride again, but be careful of large roots that can toss you off your bike and into trees or the lake (TRUST ME I KNOW!!!)after I received a possible concussion from this adventure. Then its back to the front section again where it becomes mostly hard pack and shell up great hills and down only to find minor drop offs which are excellent for a little air. I hope to ride this trail again after the rains pack the back section in and make it enjoyable to ride instead of a constant struggle and wondering "God how long will this last!!"

The previous review by Guppy pretty much covers it all. I ride this trail several times a week and I can tell you that his review is excellent.

The intermediate trail is great for beginners that are starting to get some skill and confidence and are ready to move up a level. The trail provides several challenges and takes about 30-40 minutes to complete. I usually do 2-3 laps and I have a great time every time. After a month of riding there and overall, I am just starting to make it over the more technical areas.

I highly recommend this trail for beginners and fresh intermediate riders. If you want more challenging trails go to Markham Park at the other end of the Sawgrass Xpress Way just off of St. Rd. 84 West.

Markham Park, Oleta State Park, Southern Blvd. & 441

Review:

As of May 2000 the guys that maintain this trail have done a great job (kudos guys) of adding about 1 mile of technical trail recently. The new trail has been added in two different areas and the one in the back by the turnpike goes through pine forest and is very windy, rooty and reminiscent of Oleta. There is a fat rock leaning against a rooted tree that is challenging to finagle. The other new part is also well done with a neat section that winds through hanging vines and small hills.

Overall it is a good trail to keep you in shape and polish the MB skills. Entrance to the park is free after 5:00PM and its usually not too crowded except for special events and races. It is well canopied so you don't dry up even on the hottest summer days. Lots of tight turns and bumpy roots that keep you on your toes. The clay hill can be a nuisance when wet. It is 20 feet tall and near vert at the top. Tip for hill - approach with as much speed as possible in a high gear, pull front of bike up when hitting the base of the hill then lean forward and don't stop the juice til you're over the top or on your ass. I've tumbled down it backwards. If you've never experienced clay--when its slick there's no hope if you don't make it over. That's probably the hardest part of the trail aside from the 2-step drop in the back by the lake. I've never tumbled on that one but have watched my friend endo time and again. Relax going down it. Also, ease up on the speed (as a safety courtesy to others) on the two way traffic section as visibility to oncoming traffic can be poor.

Aside from that the trail winds in between and around a series of scenic lakes which used to be limestone quarries, hence the clay hill. There are other small hills, some neat bridges, some straight-a-ways, some frustrating sugar sand sections which seem to sap you of all your energy with no reward. In extended dry periods you almost have to walk it through one lengthy sandy section. Funny thing is after some good rains all the sections that pissed you off are now speedy banked turns that you can carve through. One of the more technical sections takes you through rocky winding tunnels in between wood bridges and finally up a bitch of a rocky hill-turn where you can blow a tube if your back tire hits the rocks wrong. Its a long walk back.

Trails are well marked but it helps if someone shows you through the first time. You can bring your girlfriend but they haven't been too concerned with maintaining the novice trail lately. Low branches and downed logs and all. Turn her around at the novice turnaround and send her back to the trailhead. You'll be finished in 20 more mins.

Alot of people will bag on this trail but its really the only thing for Palm Beach County unless you go up to Southern and 441. The scenery really is nice. There is also a campground, kitty water park, and cable water skiing available at the park if you have family to entertain.

This was only half the distance as Oleta but was fun just the same. They were working on it when I was there. I did one lap by myself and hooked up with some locals on my second lap. On my second lap in the 2-way section, on my way back I was trying to get air off of a rooted jump and planted my front wheel into the root. It threw me on the ground and I spent the rest of the day in ER. I broke my clavicle on the last day of my trip and had to fly back in pain. Great trail to work on your technical skills if you opt for the intermediate route. A lot of roots and some good root/1-2 ft dropoff combinations with perculiar switchbacks/turns at the bottom. Clay hill is a blast and just as you think you are going to make it up - wham! - the last 2 feet of the climb is almost beyond vertical!!! A lot of twisty , curvy trail with roots. Also there are some flat sections that you can just crank. If you are not used to roots then you will not like it. The course is almost as technical (in spots) as hardrock but without the hills. Dibs to the builders and maintainers of this trail. It is a hidden gem. Also, the guys and gals at Bike Generation on Hillsboro Street were very helpful to me recently.

Well, I finally rode this trail. It was fun and fast, but that was the problem. It was too fast. I think 7 miles is generous. I got on the trail at 1000 hrs and was finished at 1030 hrs. So, I did it again and again. Bottom line , it was fun and that is what counts. The trails are forgiving compared to the rough and tumble Oleta Park. Good technical sections and frig that clay mountain. I hit that bitch hard 3 times and I could not make it without my feet touching the ground.

I will definately do this trail again. It will not be a regular run for me but I'll be back. The only problem this trail has is the same problem Markham has ; too damn short.
