Well...it doesn't get any better than this in Jacksonville, unfortunately. Hanna has some decent trails for intermediate riders, as well as some easier rides for beginners. However, to all you 'reviewers' that say Hanna is no good, i dare you to ride the trails balls out for an hour or two. Believe me, they're not the best, but they'll spank you hard enough. Hanna's not the best in florida, but it's good enough to hold Norba races and give the riders of Jax a decent work out. Use it up ladies, it's the best we got.

I am a bit surprised at the rating inflation here...Hanna Park is rated at a "3.62" and "4" - up in the same ranks as Razorback and HardRock?!?!(Reddick/Ocala, FL - see list). This is NOT accurate!
While Hanna Park is great to combine an hour ride with a picnic or laying out at the beach(don't forget your bike lock)....
Hanna Park is what a convict would consider of the prison cafeteria as "good eatin'". If you can't have any better - you don't don't consider any better!
I am not ripping Hanna down or all the folks that have put some sweat into keeping it up. Hanna is a good supplement if one does not have the extra time to drive to locations outside of Jacksonville - it is better than the sidewalk!
If it hasn't rained within a week or so, it will be loose and SANDY, North Trails more sandy than the South. There are some efforts to throw down limestone to firm up soft areas. PROS= Some technical stuff: some fun bunny hops(roots), bridges, tight turns, and thread-the-needle trees. CONS= Slow, flat, mosquito infested(keeps you moving!), creeks in the park tend to smell pretty bad.
Recommendation: If you just bought your bike, by all means, make a few trips to Hanna first - get comfortable on your bike...When you feel are ready - head to Ocala, Lakeland, White Springs, or points North.
Jacksonville seriously needs some better trails in its vicinity to support her strong MTB following. On any given day, you'll find that over 50% of Jax riders are over 50 miles from home due to the lack of decent local trails.

Find a trail and ride it. Once your tired, find a paved road and follow it. It'll lead out the park or to the N.A.S. Either way, you'll find your way...

Hardrock is awesome..excellent technical spots and single track runs where you can fly. There's an awesome canyon with hardrock riding all around it. A little piece of Arizona in the middle of Florida. Lots of great campgrounds all around. The forest is very thick all around the trails & some breath-taking trees that you MUST stop and just look at. It's O.K. to stop alot & look around. Alot nicer than racing back to your car.

My wife and I lived in Jacksonville for 1-1/2 years. Hanna Park was the best thing there. We would ride the trails until we were beat and then roamed out on the beach for a cool dip. Nothing like watching the sun go down while floating in the ocean, and no one on the beach but us. Try that at ANY other trail in Florida! We go back often to camp there, and it's still our favorite weekend escape. The trails are fine...plenty of stuff for every level of rider. Quite flat mostly, but cooler than most trails in Florida. (Ocean breeze)

These trails are beginner to interm. although some sections are marked expert (they arent). It's best to ride after days of rain which will toughen up the sandy areas. Lots of turns and roots to ride over. The best thing about this place is that you can camp, ride, and walk to the beach in all the same area. Dogs are welcome in the park as well as on the beach...one of the few places in FL. It's not a place for hammerheads, but I love the whole atmosphere here.

This is a very tight set of trails. I have not ridden during wet conditions, but it is very sandy most of the time. You never really get going fast, and there are no hills. The workout comes from a steady, constant spin. Lots of riders, so be careful.
