Definitely worth checking out, very entertaining even though Florida is so damn flat. Thanks for the fun ride. |

One thing worth noting that I don't think has been mentioned, is the complete canopy coverage of the trails. Personally I dislike trails with direct sunlight as it burns me out faster, so the shady trails at Hanna were perfect for me. And if you want sun, just ride over to the beach and there you go... The best way I can describe Hanna is to compare it to other trails I've riden. If you like Morris Bridge/Flatlands in Tampa you'll like Hanna more - similiar type of trails and terrian, but better. If you're familiar with Santos, think more Spider Kingdom and Bunny/Termite type of trails - although the terrian is different. Worth noting too is that Hanna is not as flat as some might say. Certains trails have some ups and downs to them - nothing massive of course, but enough to keep your attention when zipping along fast - you may even find yourself out of the saddle on a few. I enjoyed Hanna. Kudos to those one put together and maintain these trails. |

While Hanna Park is great to combine an hour ride with a picnic or laying out at the beach(don't forget your bike lock).... Hanna Park is what a convict would consider of the prison cafeteria as "good eatin'". If you can't have any better - you don't don't consider any better! I am not ripping Hanna down or all the folks that have put some sweat into keeping it up. Hanna is a good supplement if one does not have the extra time to drive to locations outside of Jacksonville - it is better than the sidewalk! If it hasn't rained within a week or so, it will be loose and SANDY, North Trails more sandy than the South. There are some efforts to throw down limestone to firm up soft areas. PROS= Some technical stuff: some fun bunny hops(roots), bridges, tight turns, and thread-the-needle trees. CONS= Slow, flat, mosquito infested(keeps you moving!), creeks in the park tend to smell pretty bad. Recommendation: If you just bought your bike, by all means, make a few trips to Hanna first - get comfortable on your bike...When you feel are ready - head to Ocala, Lakeland, White Springs, or points North. Jacksonville seriously needs some better trails in its vicinity to support her strong MTB following. On any given day, you'll find that over 50% of Jax riders are over 50 miles from home due to the lack of decent local trails. |

Considering it's location, the amenities and how well the trails are maintained, I know of no one in the area who doesn't have a good time when they ride here. I rode a 20 mile loop ourside Tucson AZ two years ago, which STILL has a 4.36 rating, and was totally BORING! However, if you "hated" this place because you wanted to dive off of a 10 foot drop, then dive off your dam roof or build a ramp or something! But if you want two foot drops, go to the dunes in the back. I've ridden this place for years and it only gets better with time...yes, Reddick, Santos and even Hailes Trails (Had a great race there last week, by the way) are fantastic, and I love to go there, but it's an ALL DAY AFFAIR to get there from here (almost 2.5 hours each way). Riders like myself who have a life and actually WORK for a living may not have a day to kill twice a week to go there. HAPPY now??? |

A few surprises (some welcome and some not!) are there if you look as well. One bad surprise was me getting caught by the neck and lifted clean off my bike by a vine that had fallen in the middle of a blind, fast turn on a trail called "Switchback" sometime after it rained. It was bad enough to almost get decapitated, but the two MTBer's I was riding with were fast on my tail and both plowed into the back of me! Not good! My wrist and the chainring cuts on my right Gastroc STILL hurts!! The good surprises...I was shown a few steeper (but sandy) drops at the back of Hanna near the ocean that was just great, and a little low North-Shore wannabe section on one of the newer trails. I tried both and each required sound technical skill. The trails are very well maintained and the new-cut trails were just plain fun. I've been to a lot of different states to ride, Snowshoe and Moab included, and although far from difficult or challenging and absolutely no climbs worth writing about, this place was still just plain fun to ride. There's no reason NOT to come here to ride if you're in the area. The other rider's I met that day were friendly and the scenery was not to shabby either. Definitely recommended. |

No, it doesn't have any real hills. No, it isn't rocky or otherwise very technical But I came to town on business from Atlanta (I ride the 96 Olympic Trail several times per month) and encountered a FUN ride. I tend to judge trails based on whether they exceed my expectations. I had low expectations for any trails in Jacksonville, FL; much less a trail right at the beach. Hanna Park blew my expectations out of the water. The scenery was great, the trail was twisty with a few roots and logs to keep it interesting. In fact, some of the obstacles came at the end of sharp blind curves and really catch a first timer by surprise. I have a couple of scrapes to prove it. Kudos to whoever designed and built this trail. As the review below says, it makes the most of the available terrain. The locals should ride the trails on the exit road side more. There were more challenging sections here, but much of it seemed like it was virtually never ridden (ie over grown, not well worn, etc). Great Ride. If you are coming to Atlanta sometime, bring the bike and ride the Atlanta Olympic Trail. See my review for good directions on how to ride it, or drop me an e-mail, perhaps we can hook-up. |

Hope I can get back there one day. Again, without comparing this trail to other ones in other parts of the state or country, I give this one a 4. The way I look at it, a trail should be judged on its ability to make the most of it's geography. This one does. |

Mostly flat with a couple 8 foot walls in "Grunt" Tight twisty single track...trails for all levels. Trees and vines can grab handle bars if you are not careful. Some banked turns and small bridges wide enough to ride over without worrying about falling in the creeks. Favortie trail: Brier Patch...on the north side 4 Stars b/c it is Northeast Florida |

You can make these trails tough if you want to blast through them, but for the most part a 10 year old could ride these trails as easily as a 25 year old. i.e. - good for families and the expert biker. Kudos for excellent trail maintenance, trails being well marked and the amenities: bike wash and park facilities. This is an excellent all purpose trail for Florida. Well worth the drive to check it out!!! |

In reality, at least 75-85% of the trails are hardpack, NOT sand. If anything, it's the large exposed roots of trees that'll get you!(...and if you want a good laugh, offer first aid to newbies as they try to negotiate "LOG JAM" at speed...ESPN would have a field day filming "Crash and Burn" for mountain bikes on that trail!!!) Of course, those large banana spider-webs that hang around face level are always fun too! Personally, the proximity to the beach is a blessing. The summer can be blazing hot, so the breeze off the ocean isn't bad, and a dunk in the ocean is immediately refreshing!!! O.K., so these trails aren't the Rocky Mountains, but considering what state we're in and the close-by amenities, the singletrack is the most fun in North Florida. |

I only want this much sand on a motorcycle trail. This park is on the beach, so its mostly beach sand slightly packed inbetween a bunch of trees. Some areas are sand free and very technical with lots of roots, but I hate sand. To damn much like work to ride in it. |
