flat trails with allot of roots that dont get in the way to much. you can pick up allot of speed on most of the trains, but some have sharp turns so you need to watch out some people go the wrong way so slow down and be careful for them. the trails are boring but good for an exercize the only thing good is small trails that have stunts being built that are fun.

I was visiting and came prepared for road duty but then discovered this park. I had some 1.5 kenda kwest road tires on my single speed but still had a blast. I had to walk up the tiny, sandy hills, due to the slick tires. Turning wasnt' a bigga problem as I thought, though, the trails are very twisty and make great use of the limited park size. I was impressed with the crew that takes care of the park with the bits of northshore, etc.

Definitely worth checking out, very entertaining even though Florida is so damn flat. Thanks for the fun ride.

If you dont wan't to drive to Razzor Back or Ft Clinch then this will do. These trails can be a challenge for beginers even intermidiate riders. Expert riders may have to ride trails several times just to warm up. Yes' it is a little sandy it's on the beach, Don't let that stop you. Trails can be fast with sharp turns and rootes. Please watch for wrong way riders. Some trails are one way. Park just after the entrance to the left, it's shady and has bike showers. Weekends can be bussy with bikers, always wear a helmet. Have fun and be open minded for biking is for self enjoyment to inner peace.

Wow, I was pleasantly surprised by this great series of trails. I rode it this weekend in the race they had there. I'm sure time of year and rainfall (like all trails in florida) would have an effect on trail conditions - as well as maintenance - but other than the few mud holes, I found the trails to be very nicely packed and fast.

One thing worth noting that I don't think has been mentioned, is the complete canopy coverage of the trails. Personally I dislike trails with direct sunlight as it burns me out faster, so the shady trails at Hanna were perfect for me. And if you want sun, just ride over to the beach and there you go...

The best way I can describe Hanna is to compare it to other trails I've riden. If you like Morris Bridge/Flatlands in Tampa you'll like Hanna more - similiar type of trails and terrian, but better. If you're familiar with Santos, think more Spider Kingdom and Bunny/Termite type of trails - although the terrian is different.

Worth noting too is that Hanna is not as flat as some might say. Certains trails have some ups and downs to them - nothing massive of course, but enough to keep your attention when zipping along fast - you may even find yourself out of the saddle on a few.

I enjoyed Hanna. Kudos to those one put together and maintain these trails.

"HANNA Park" is same as "Kathryn Abby Hanna" in this Florida list...

Review:

I am a bit surprised at the rating inflation here...Hanna Park is rated at a "3.62" and "4" - up in the same ranks as Razorback and HardRock?!?!(Reddick/Ocala, FL - see list). This is NOT accurate!
While Hanna Park is great to combine an hour ride with a picnic or laying out at the beach(don't forget your bike lock)....
Hanna Park is what a convict would consider of the prison cafeteria as "good eatin'". If you can't have any better - you don't don't consider any better!
I am not ripping Hanna down or all the folks that have put some sweat into keeping it up. Hanna is a good supplement if one does not have the extra time to drive to locations outside of Jacksonville - it is better than the sidewalk!
If it hasn't rained within a week or so, it will be loose and SANDY, North Trails more sandy than the South. There are some efforts to throw down limestone to firm up soft areas. PROS= Some technical stuff: some fun bunny hops(roots), bridges, tight turns, and thread-the-needle trees. CONS= Slow, flat, mosquito infested(keeps you moving!), creeks in the park tend to smell pretty bad.
Recommendation: If you just bought your bike, by all means, make a few trips to Hanna first - get comfortable on your bike...When you feel are ready - head to Ocala, Lakeland, White Springs, or points North.
Jacksonville seriously needs some better trails in its vicinity to support her strong MTB following. On any given day, you'll find that over 50% of Jax riders are over 50 miles from home due to the lack of decent local trails.

Review:

This park offers a decent ride every time out. It can be as challenging as you make it. A small freeride area exists in the center area (not too far from the parks main entrance), however the winding, mostly flat single track is Hanna's mainstay. You can get an excellent, not-boring workout here. It also has some decent mud bogs after a good rain. Ride Briar Patch flat out and see if you think Hanna Park isn't fun.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
If you have the whole day to kill & are from the Jacksonville area, then Reddick (only on weekends), Santos (Ocala), and Hardrock (also Ocala) are the place to go. Gainsville is ok for a change of pace and Hailes is only open for races twice a year...DO NOT TRESPASS.

Review:

Nothing I add here will justify what hasn't already been said...for flat Northern Florida, not too shabby. Tons of trail-riding here! And for you "Hardcore" riders who trash the review of this place, might I remind you that any "hardcore" rider would never and SHOULD never come here. Besides, we wouldn't want you here anyway. So why write a review...this place wasn't MEANT for you!

Considering it's location, the amenities and how well the trails are maintained, I know of no one in the area who doesn't have a good time when they ride here. I rode a 20 mile loop ourside Tucson AZ two years ago, which STILL has a 4.36 rating, and was totally BORING! However, if you "hated" this place because you wanted to dive off of a 10 foot drop, then dive off your dam roof or build a ramp or something! But if you want two foot drops, go to the dunes in the back. I've ridden this place for years and it only gets better with time...yes, Reddick, Santos and even Hailes Trails (Had a great race there last week, by the way) are fantastic, and I love to go there, but it's an ALL DAY AFFAIR to get there from here (almost 2.5 hours each way). Riders like myself who have a life and actually WORK for a living may not have a day to kill twice a week to go there. HAPPY now???

Rode Santos a year ago...didn't care for the boring singletrack, but the two pits were fun. Reddick I heard was a blast. Will try to get there this spring.

Review:

I was pleasantly surprised at the numerous miles of trail you have at this place. Some of the new-cut trails we found by accident were definitely not on the map, but were great in there own right. There is a TON of riding here, but it would be very difficult to get lost. Nothing was difficult, but for fun, FAST riding with a few roots and techincal sections thrown in for good measure, we had a great ride at Hanna. Good facilities too!

A few surprises (some welcome and some not!) are there if you look as well. One bad surprise was me getting caught by the neck and lifted clean off my bike by a vine that had fallen in the middle of a blind, fast turn on a trail called "Switchback" sometime after it rained. It was bad enough to almost get decapitated, but the two MTBer's I was riding with were fast on my tail and both plowed into the back of me! Not good! My wrist and the chainring cuts on my right Gastroc STILL hurts!! The good surprises...I was shown a few steeper (but sandy) drops at the back of Hanna near the ocean that was just great, and a little low North-Shore wannabe section on one of the newer trails. I tried both and each required sound technical skill. The trails are very well maintained and the new-cut trails were just plain fun.

I've been to a lot of different states to ride, Snowshoe and Moab included, and although far from difficult or challenging and absolutely no climbs worth writing about, this place was still just plain fun to ride. There's no reason NOT to come here to ride if you're in the area. The other rider's I met that day were friendly and the scenery was not to shabby either. Definitely recommended.

This is a great ride!

No, it doesn't have any real hills.

No, it isn't rocky or otherwise very technical

But I came to town on business from Atlanta (I ride the 96 Olympic Trail several times per month) and encountered a FUN ride.

I tend to judge trails based on whether they exceed my expectations. I had low expectations for any trails in Jacksonville, FL; much less a trail right at the beach. Hanna Park blew my expectations out of the water.

The scenery was great, the trail was twisty with a few roots and logs to keep it interesting. In fact, some of the obstacles came at the end of sharp blind curves and really catch a first timer by surprise. I have a couple of scrapes to prove it.

Kudos to whoever designed and built this trail. As the review below says, it makes the most of the available terrain.

The locals should ride the trails on the exit road side more. There were more challenging sections here, but much of it seemed like it was virtually never ridden (ie over grown, not well worn, etc).

Great Ride.

If you are coming to Atlanta sometime, bring the bike and ride the Atlanta Olympic Trail. See my review for good directions on how to ride it, or drop me an e-mail, perhaps we can hook-up.

I rode this trail a number of times a few years ago. I enjoyed the ride. Like someone else here said, it ain't Moab, but it's singletrack -- it's public -- and it's trail, so that a good thing. It's also near the beach, so that's cool too! Maps at the trailhead are nice and the sandy spots test my strength and handling skills (only wussies bitch about sand!).

Hope I can get back there one day. Again, without comparing this trail to other ones in other parts of the state or country, I give this one a 4. The way I look at it, a trail should be judged on its ability to make the most of it's geography. This one does.

Here's the deal. This is not the place for the hardcore mountain biker who says "you haven't ridden hard today unless you've bled". WE ARE IN FLORIDA - THIS IS NOT MOAB, STOP COMPLAINING.

You can make these trails tough if you want to blast through them, but for the most part a 10 year old could ride these trails as easily as a 25 year old. i.e. - good for families and the expert biker.

Kudos for excellent trail maintenance, trails being well marked and the amenities: bike wash and park facilities.

This is an excellent all purpose trail for Florida. Well worth the drive to check it out!!!

HA HA This is a fun place to ride and I here the guy just builds all kinds of trails so who knows where the routs are now. Great trail for beginners, but you will have to increase your speed to make it challenging for intermediate or better riders. Aerobic- very easy. Technical-varies, Most is easy, a few intermediate parts. Elevation- Fairly flat, a few areas gain up to 20-25', but rather brief. Nice for the family, park has grilles and shade, a lake, beach, canoe rentals, etc. Trails are well maintained, and the price is fair. For intermediate and hard core riders, not worth the time unless you live in the neighborhood. I ride throughout the US, and much prefer the 2 hour drive to Ocala for riding. Also see Brooksville's Gran Canyon. Ride on-T

Review:

There are over 15 miles of trails in Hanna, and I can't find one of them that my friends and I don't enjoy....in either direction. Twisting, turning, and scenic, the singletrack is definitely worth your time to get there. Considering the condition and upkeep of the trails, as well as the continued construction of newer trails, this place continues to improve each year. And to those of you who complain of sand...what the hell do you want??? You're 1000 yards from the friggin' beach, for Christ's sake!!!
In reality, at least 75-85% of the trails are hardpack, NOT sand. If anything, it's the large exposed roots of trees that'll get you!(...and if you want a good laugh, offer first aid to newbies as they try to negotiate "LOG JAM" at speed...ESPN would have a field day filming "Crash and Burn" for mountain bikes on that trail!!!) Of course, those large banana spider-webs that hang around face level are always fun too! Personally, the proximity to the beach is a blessing. The summer can be blazing hot, so the breeze off the ocean isn't bad, and a dunk in the ocean is immediately refreshing!!! O.K., so these trails aren't the Rocky Mountains, but considering what state we're in and the close-by amenities, the singletrack is the most fun in North Florida.

You expect to see aligators and boa constrictors everywhere, but I didn't see any (whew!). You ride over palm leaves, tree roots, blowdown, wooden bridges over the river, and vegetation everywhere, but the trail is relatively easy. It is warm in the jungle, but the rain is not very bad due to the canopy. If I lived around here, I would be riding this place often. It can give you a great workout if you keep on moving, don't worry about following any particular trail, they all lead to the same place. It's really fun just to ride and ride and ride forever. The trail has a nice groove that you can fall into. It's also pretty technical in places so watch out for the trees. Also, in the summer check your equipment before you start riding because if you have to stop and walk, the mosquitos will kill you!
