Directions to Trailhead:

Just wanted to find a way to place a heads up. The trails are a blast to ride but everyone needs to stick to the path that leads into the trail head. The last few months the farmer who owns the horse far next to the trail has been complaining to the local police about people using the access raod that boarders his property (if you have to open and close the gate then you know what I mean). Please don't use that way to get in and out of the trail, I know it sucks using that bumpy trail but we have to or we loose the use of the trail all together. The folks down there have worked too hard to keep the trails groomed and a lot of fun for that to happen........... Thanks to all..

From West Palm Beach. Go north on I-95 to Okeechobee/Ft. Pierce exit. Go west to the first or second light. KFC set back on the left. Make a left before KFC and go back to the Cul de Sac. Take the bumpy dirt road to the right. You'll get there.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Jonathan Dickinson State Park - good after a rain, Pinehurst trail, Quiet Waters, Markem Park, Oleta - not good after a rain.

Review:

This is a trail you may not want to ride after a steady rain. Mud in spots made me look as if I followed a dirt bike through the trail. There are bypasses at the muddy spots which I noticed as I was getting well, muddy. Advanced sections,X-overs,bypasses are marked, but blend into the scenery. Almost the entire trail is dirt with some sand under I-95. People new to the sport, as well as those more experienced will find this trail fun to ride. Bridges, drops and a teeter-toter, only add to the adventure. Grab a couple friends, pack a lunch, and ride.

Recommended Route:
I-95 to Okeechobee road, go east until you reach the KFC, turn right. The road dead ends to a large open dirt field. Follow the road to the right. If you have a roof rack, take the bike off, very low branches.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Jonathon Dickson State Park.

Review:

Nice trail, moderate difficulty overall. Very difficult optional drops, fly bridge, log crossing, extra long teater toter. Sometimes difficult to follow. Many optional side trails off of the main trail. Shows Florida's natural sites, occasional gator in the creek. Rating in comparison to other Florida Trails. (doesn't compare to Colorado Springs Trails)

This trail is fantastic, especially after a dry spell like we have been in. All the obstacles are in good working order, teeter totter, bridges and logs. trails have great grip. If you want a South FL trail with little to no soft sand (except for under I-95) this is it. If Johnathan Dickinson is getting to sandy for a fun ride, try yhis rail, you will not be disappointed, however be prepared to ride it several times to get a good workout.

Review:

I posted this trail over 4 years ago when I first started to ride because I thought it was such a nice trail and it wasn't posted yet. I got reamed out by the people who cut and maintain this trail because they like it how it is and they didn't want people bothering the local farm owner next to the trail. So off the review went. Four years later the trails are just as nice and even better. Not a long trail but a blast to ride. It is like a roller coaster. It doesn't have crazy drops or anything to hurt you but it technical if you ride it with speed. Beautiful surroundings and well marked. Keep it around but not abusing the privilege to ride this trail. Park in the parking lot and be respectful. Nice ride if you combine it with JD in Hobe Sound. Happy trails.

Taking the turnpike is the easiest way you can get to this 3.0-mile course. If taking the turnpike get off at the exit-152 Fort Pierce (SR 70). Now listen very carefully, it can be tricky. As soon as you get off the turnpike hang a right and then your VERY NEXT right. There will be NO signs indicating that you are at the right place. What? It doesn’t look like a trail entrance? well who’s asking for directions here anyway! It'll look like a utility road for the powerlines, take that..all the way back in.

Just a bit bumpy getting to the parking spot but, nothing to extreme if you can't make down the dirt road just park at kfc and ride on in.The trails were great some parts were extremely flooded do to the heavy rain. Only part a bit confusing was which path to follow when crossing under 95. Had a great time will definetly make the trip again.

Follow the well-marked signs on the trail - beginner & advanced. By the way - beginner is their term for Intermediate - If you are a beginning mountain biker, do not attempt this trail! Very technical!

Other recommended trails in the same area:
There are no other real trails in the Ft. Pierce/PSL area, so this is the best thing. Closest other trail is Jonathan Dickenson. Fort Pierce has no facilities, so if you gotta go, go back out to the Steak & Shake or other fast food restaurant at the entrance to the industrial park.

Review:

We rode last night at about 5 pm. I haven't ridden this trail in a while and was extremely impressed by how well marked it was, and much easier to follow the well-laid out trails. Great options when getting to the very technical obstacles - you can go around or try the many tricky bridges, see saw and drop offs. My husband does those while I ride around them. Very challenging hills, narrow single track, some very difficult roots, and some really sandy spots, particularly as you cross back and forth under the I-95 north & southbound bridges. Perfect during dry season, very muddy in wet season. You'll need mosquito repellant, as you wind through a swampy area and next to a large stream. I was extremely proud of completing the entire course, as I hadn't ridden it in about a year, since getting my new bike and have gained much experience. Very challenging and an extreme aerobic workout!

I recently road this trail when it was raining. Well it was only drizzling the first time through then halfway thorugh our second run it started pouring. Mud, sweat and gears! It was a real challenge to manuever over the roots, it was like mother nature had oiled the ground. But nonetheless we really enjoyed it. Nothing like a muddy, slippery, sweaty ride to make you feel like a mountain biker. Ride this trail when its wet and raining. When its dry the trail is even more fun.

Heading south on I-95 take a right off of the highway 70 exit. Make a left at the first traffic light and follow it all the way back. You can't miss the double track off to the right. Take it to the trail head.

I and a few others are in the very early stages of creating a new trail in Malabar, Brevard County. Stay tuned.

Review:

I haven't riden this trail in well over a year. What a remarkable improvement. The people responsible for making this such a good riding experience I thank you all. I will be back more often. I recommend this trail to anyopne in the area or passing by on I-95. The trail demands your complete focus all the way. There is always something happening, you are either going into a turn, coming out of one, decsending, ascending, dancing over roots or some other obstacle. Thanks again for a job well done. I can't wait for the additional trail to be completed.

Like that other guy said, we need to use the main entrance in and out of the trail head. This is the one w/ the culdasac at the light.

You should enter the trail at the sign. This is the best route if you want to catch the huge jumps and tetotters. Just stay on the main trail and don't cut through. The dance section is all right, but it needs some work.

There are none close, but lakeland and ocala are worth the drive.

Review:

These trails are great! They are semi-tight single track that is fun to ride. I ride here when ever I can and tonight I will be doing my first night ride there. If you follow the main trail you should have no trouble finding your way. The north shore-style drop offs are pretty good and so is the teeter totter. I want to help the person who maintains this trail, so If you read this, e-mail me and I will try to help with some maintnance. I thik the trail could use some more bridges, like at west palm, and some more drop offs. Check my web site www.geocities.com/eric108770/index.html

We all need to try and work with this rancher. He will do his best to bug the cops and get the trail shut down. Please stick to the main way in and out. It's not that bad and it keeps the trail opne for the rest of us.
