Recommended Route:
Park your car all the way at the end of the road. Cross the bridge and head toward Little Yosemite. At Little Yosemite make a left and head uphill to Cerro Estes. At the top do not come back the way you came instead head down the fire road to the Barn area and back to the picnic areas.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Augustin Bernal/Pleasanton Ridge via either Golden Eagle Estates (Pleasanton residents) or Longview road

Review:

This ride is strictly a lung busting/leg burning training ride. The climb to Cerro Estes offers only short sections between climbs to get the heart rate down. If you can make it to the top without stopping consider yourself in shape. The downhill is steep but not technical so after the climb you have earned some speed time. I have yet to run into anyone coming up the downhill part above the barn. I usually ride in the mornings because of the sun exposure it can get HOT.

The round trip is @5.5 miles. You park @ 1/2 mile from the trailhead on a less traveled road and bike to the trailhead. The trail is fire road. It's hot with some shade but not that dusty in the summer. The trail offers uphill and then rolling elevation.
Good place to go without crowds and if you have a dog that likes to run as the park allows dogs for a $1 fee.

I've only ridden it once. I rode the Hayfield road trail.

Other recommended trails in the same area:
Pleasanton ridge - for all your uphill pleasures.

Review:

It's one hell of a workout on a single speed. The trail is obviously not biked much - it has lots of horseshoe imprints as well as horse and cow crap. Maybe some of the other legal bike trails in the park are kewl, but it was getting dark.

Recommended Route:
Cruise out on the Southern trails to almost the parks' boundary. Then cut up the hill to the highest peak, only about 2300 ft. Float down the hill, at least 30mph - dodge cows and those hiker people. You will come across the Barn area. Either head north to spank some more hills or cut down East to the headquarters.

Mild hills to start with... I went on a hikers only trail by accident but luckily no one was there to catch us. I am glad i had the chance to do that off-limits trail, because it made it more technical and enjoyable. Loved coming down the mountain through mud and cow shit, switching back and forth.
