This trail is illegal downhill! Start at Muir Beach parking lot and ride back toward Pelican Inn - just across from pelican inn go right down what looks like a driveway to a farm and follow this around to the left until you see the sign for the trail to the right. |
Trail Description: |
Get in a low gear and start climbing. This is a steep and sometimes technical singletrack that will test your motor and skills. I suggest you actually start somewhere on Tam or Headlands to get warmed up. Too steep as a starter. At the top go left (up) and hang a right 1/4 mile down to take Miwok trail to tennessee valley rd. Miwok downhill is awesome. |

Recommended Route: do a normal headlands ride through the stables, then connect up with this by riding coastal to wolf ridge and such.

indeed, climbing this hill after chasing them through the headlands for an hour and a half already was a true test of my skills and mental toughness. this is another trail one must master before one considers his or herself a true Mountain Monster. i don't mean just suffer up this hill in the granny gear and walking in places, but i mean DOMINATING the trail. in the MIDDLE RING. if you can accomplish this, then my friend, you can ride a mountain bike with skill and power. five tires based on the brutality of this climb and its value as a junction between mt tam and the headlands. **note--if you're doing this as part of a night ride originating in san francisco, you'd better use your lights wisely. |
