The CatEye Tripleshot is revolutionary. It delivers the promise of LED technology into a light that's bright, rugged, long-running and affordable. End of story!

Ok we'll give more details. "LED is the future." I've heard this from many industry insiders for the last couple of years. Until now though, the LED lights I've seen are not bright enough for high speed night riding. Some good qualities of LED lights are:
- instant-on (unlike HID which takes about 10 seconds)
- light is flicker-free
- white light (much like HID)
- power efficient
- affordable
- long bulb life

It seems like no LED bulb over 5 watts is mass-produced yet. Thus most of the LED light systems available are not quite bright enough for high speed off-road use. CatEye solves this issue by putting 3 LED bulbs in tandem. They package these lights together in an rugged, iron light head with plenty of cooling fins. the result is a very solid light head that runs very cool.

On the trail, the tripleshot performed flawlessly. The remote switch is very convenient and turning the light on results in an instant white beam. Off, it goes off and on and it's on again. What a concept! If you've used HID before, you'll understand why this is a breath of fresh air.

The beam is wide, bright and white. The beam pattern has a bright, tight center and an outer ring that has about 25% of the light beam. Trail visibility is very good both for long range and trail boundaries at close range.

Another bonus is the run time. CatEye claims run time of 3:35 at full power. We measured 4:00 hours. At 4 hours, the beam is not at full brightness but still quite usable. The light stays lit past 4 hours while getting dimmer. HID lights do not get dim, they just shut off when there's not enough power. LED's however can use power very efficiently and stay lit with whatever power is available. This is not only more efficient but also safer as LED's shut down very slowly.

So here is a great light, at a great price, a true revolution from CatEye.

A Word from the Manufacturer

CatEye brings the latest in LED lighting technology to the market with the Triple Shot rechargeable headlight system. The Triple Shot is a great headlight developed for mountain bikers and serious commuters who need intense brightness and serious reliability. CatEye is the first to achieve this amount of brightness from three 3-Watt LEDs due to our proprietary Opticube lens and reflector technology. Furthermore, the lightweight and compact design appeals to endurance racers. Another major advantage of the Triple Shot LEDs is their average lifetime of 100,000 hours, approximately 200 times that of HID bulbs. CatEye technical support rep Jeff Wilbur states, This equates to huge cost savings for the consumer in the long run and no downtime. HID bulb replacements typically run $90-150 and need to be performed by the manufacturer. Additionally, the Triple Shot will not interfere with wireless computers from CatEye. The CatEye Triple Shot sets new standards in bicycle rechargeable lighting technology.

Sloane Anderson and Jeff Kerkove of the CatEye Enduro team are competing with the Triple Shot and the helmet mounted Double Shot this season. Sloane Anderson commented, The weight issue is a big bonus. I particularly like that I can now use my water bottle cage for a bottle if needed. Jeff Kerkove added, The size and weight of the entire system is perfect!

CatEye is the leading manufacturer in bicycle lighting and reflector technology. Founded in 1946 in Osaka, Japan, CatEye has always been a leader in innovation and technology. CatEye revolutionized high-end bicycle lighting systems by being the first to bring HID bulbs to the market with the Stadium light system.
