We checked out the manufacturing facilities of Phil Wood & Co. and found out some pretty interesting stuff about this well respected company. Most of us already know that they make highly sought after bottom brackets and hubs, but did you know they also make tools, lubricants and cleaners, bearings, bikes and wheels?

In the company's 33 years of business its designers have developed some outstanding technology:

  • The world's first production sealed-bearing bicycle hubs.
  • Patented spoke-cutting and threading machine.
  • Patented mechanical disk brake assembly.
  • Developed the only waterproof grease in 1971, continues to receive the 'premium' classification by all major bearing manufacturers worldwide.

In addition, Phil Wood and Company developed the first high-end bicycle pedal to receive approval from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) and was selected by Apple Computer, Inc. to be the official frame builder for its corporate Apple racing team.

Check out our photo coverage here. We've also included brief explanations of the gadgets we show you. Enjoy!
