$800.00 | | Purchased At: | Texoma Cycling Cente | | Strengths: | Very Good price for a dual suspension bike. Great frame, wheels, comes with sweet Kenda Nevegal Tires. Handles singletrack very well, and is also tough enough for moderate jumps and drops so far. | | Weaknesses: | Fork...The Dart 2, I blew out the rebound adjustment after a couple of small drops, oil all over the place....but, it's a cheap fork, u get what u pay for. And as you would expect on a dually so cheap, the components aren't the best, but that makes it fun...you can personalize your components as you upgrade. | | Similar Products Used: | Trek 4500 | | Bike Setup: | Azonic Strip Bar, SRAM XO rear derailleur, Azonic Outlaw Wheels, WTB Seat....the rest is stock for now. | | Bottom Line: | This is my first dual suspension bike....and I absolutely love it...I ride pretty hard at least three to four times a week. I weigh about 180lbs, and jump alot....so I have put the bike through much stress and it has held up great, except for the DART 2 fork (which wasn't made to be ridden the way I ride anyway). I have made a few upgrades like my XO derailleur, wheels, etc.. But anyway, this is a great bike for the price..and I plan on upgrading both the front and rear suspension to MAGURA....and then it will be absolutely perfect, for me anyway...the bike climbs good too. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$830.00 | | Strengths: | The rear shock (once i got it set for me) is great. Its not too soft and the front shocks are the same way | | Weaknesses: | the drop out has broken on me twice in one week and i hope it doesnt again i also have had problems with the shifters themselves in the sense that they have came apart inside and i fixed those myself(not a hard fix) | | Bike Setup: | stock | | Bottom Line: | when the bike is in working order its one of the most fun bikes i have ever ridden but i have had quite a few problems most of which the dealer took care of for me but its somewhat of a hassle to deal with when you want to go riding and your bike is in the shop. great beginner bike but if you want to do a little more than just trail riding this is not the bike for you you will have problems | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$749.00 | | Purchased At: | Danville Bike | | Strengths: | PRICE!!! I haven't ridden off road in 12 years so my old rock hopper was too rusted up to salvage. This bike fit my budget and needs perfectly. I tried a couple other full suspension bikes in a similar price range, and nothing was even close to this bike. A solid, all around good deal. | | Weaknesses: | Components, especially the fork. I have a Marzocchi All Mountain on the way. | | Similar Products Used: | Rock Hopper | | Bike Setup: | As of now, all original. | | Bottom Line: | Great bike for the price. Giant can offer this deal by putting low end components on it. With the exception of the fork, I'll replace them as I break them. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$500.00 | | Purchased At: | Mccully Bike | | Strengths: | Great Price. Over all the best bang for the buck that I could find. Frame seems strong the components are decent. | | Weaknesses: | The forks are to soft, Brakes squeek | | Bike Setup: | Stock | | Bottom Line: | Can't get a better bike for the price, well at least in Hawaii. Haven't gotten to thrash it yet but so far so good. Minor issues with the fork and brakes but can't complain for the price! | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from Austin, Texas Date Reviewed: April 27, 2008 | | Favoriate Trail: | Walnut Creek | | Duration Product Used: | Tested or demo'ed only | | Purchased At: | Rented at a LBS | | Strengths: | The fit was perfect right out of the shop. No need to mess with anything. Frame seems bullet proof. Decent bike I suppose if you're on an extreme budget. | | Weaknesses: | OK. I rented this bike in Sedona, Arizona and have never ridden there before, so maybe there were some rider issues, but...This thing weighs a ton! Good God man! Unfortunately this is the price you pay for full-suspension. Reminded me of my vintage Diamondback Sorento with a cromoly steel frame/steel fork. This was my first experience with Sram shifters and derailers - not impressed. Sloppy, clunky. I didn't like the handling at all - not good for the occasional desert sand with very technical and rocky trails. Dart 2 fork very entry-level. I'd change this for sure. | | Similar Products Used: | Compare this rig to my Cannondale hardtail with a Rock Shox Psylo fork, Shimano components, Mavic wheel w/Hutchison tires, and would have rather had MY rig on this particular terrain. | | Bike Setup: | Stock. Specs are shown here...http://www.giant-bicycles.com/en-US/bikes/mountain/1382/29355/ | | Bottom Line: | The price is good for what you get, BUT, I would save my money for something else if I were in the market for a fullie. Definately try-before-you-buy. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$749.00 | | Purchased At: | Hutch's Bike shop | | Strengths: | Rear shock/set up, grips, tires, brakes, seat | | Weaknesses: | Front fork. (See prev. review.) I had to go w/o a bike for a couple weeks while rockshock replaced bottom part of shock(slide?), 4 rides after getting a Dart 2(bike came with Dart 3) back from warranty dept, fluid is leaking out of the bottom of the slide from the O-ring. Tired of dealing with issues already. | | Similar Products Used: | N/A | | Bike Setup: | Stock except Dart 2 fork | | Bottom Line: | Seems like a decent bike that I would be happy with if it wern't for issues with fork. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$1374.00 | | Purchased At: | Local Shop | | Strengths: | Excelent spec for the price, rides well very nice and comfy frame | | Weaknesses: | front forks let the bike down, there either to hard or to soft, i carnt get that happy medium | | Bike Setup: | Stock with upgraded brakes | | Bottom Line: | Very nice bike, alough i did have teething problems (brake calipers were leaking oil onto the disk) which was sorted and upgraded free of charge by my local shop which was an added bonus. I carnt fault it realy... only the front fork which i plan on upgrading | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$749.00 | | Purchased At: | Hutch's Bike Shop | | Strengths: | Good components for price, comfortable and plush 4 inch travel bike | | Weaknesses: | Rear shock seems to loose air, slight poping of bottom bracket after 200 miles, had to send back fork after bike shop stripped out caliper mounting threads(this took 16 days after the bike shop told me it would only be 7. Don't know if this is the bike shops' or RockShocks' fault.) Brakes need constant adjustment. | | Similar Products Used: | none used. Haro Shift R1 and Mongoose Otero Super are in the same price range. | | Bike Setup: | Stock | | Bottom Line: | Good entry level bike for someone like myself who had little experience with FS bikes. Got me thinking of about what I really want that will suit my riding habits best. Would be a great bike for someone who won't catch the singletrack fever like I did. Now I need more travel... | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$790.00 | | Purchased At: | American River Bicycles | | Strengths: | Light, maestro Full suspension 4" travel,Seat is comfortable(but doesn't look like it),Quality build, climbs like a goat. | | Weaknesses: | At this price.....maybe the front derailer and I say this after not having any front derailer not needing constant adjustment. | | Similar Products Used: | KHS fxt trail 07 | | Bike Setup: | Stock but went to a 36 tooth single up front and race face bash gaurd and couldn,t be happier. | | Bottom Line: | There is no better option IMO for a entry level full suspension at this price. This bike climbs like a goat and rides fast downhill...climbs so good I feel like I am cheating...this bike has made me want to upgrade to a Reign 1....I want more, more | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |
