Favoriate Trail:Tokai Forest
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $2300.00
Purchased At:City Cycles
Strengths:Great Climber and the component setup compliments a bike that handles like a dream. XT servowave technology really gives you that extra breaking power. The price to component ratio is fantastic and i was astonished that the GT comes in at $2300 with its superb components.
Weaknesses:The Kenda Nevegal tyres do not have the best cornering ability and tend to slide on tight switchbacks.
Similar Products Used:I have upgraded from a shwinn hardtail so the performance compared to the shwinn is phenominal!!

Tested a Giant Trance 1 and Anthem 1 - Similar spec and handling on the GT but a lot less on the wallet!
Bike Setup:
Fox Float RL fork, air spring,120mm travel; Fox RP23 shock
New Shimano XT 27-Speed Drivetrain with XT rear derailleurs; new Shimano LX trigger shifters
WTB Speed Disc XC Rims, Shimano LX Centerlock Disc Hubs; Kenda Nevegal 120 tpi tires
Bottom Line:This is an excellent XC bike that is superbly priced and spec'd. I would highly recommend the Marathon 1 to anyone i speak to!

Great Handling - Great setup and Great shifting thanks to the new Deore XT 08.

Any above average - skilled rider looking for a great XC bike that will not break the bank and give you high end performance should definitely purchase this bike.

Price Paid: $2300.00
Strengths:Very good all around performance. Bike is extremeley tunable and responsive. I am a heavy rider at about 270 lbs and it is very smooth. Excellent front suspension with the Fox fork.
Weaknesses:At just under 30 lbs it is a little on the heavy side but not too bad.
Bike Setup:Fox Float 32 RL (ront) All xt components w/ hydaulic disc brakes. Fox RP23 rear shock.
Bottom Line:Great investment for an experienced rider looking for an all around full suspension XC bike but will handle some moderate downhills and abuse. Worth every penny.
