$1200.00 | | Purchased At: | LBS | | Strengths: | Frame geometry, fork and shock. These are quality components that let you tune in your ride. The shock and fork can lockout. The frame looks like it is built for a lot of wear and tear. The geometry fits me perfect (I'm a long armed 5'10"). | | Weaknesses: | The wheels and tires are heavy. The deore shifters work okay but the mechanism is annoying. The color is going to take some time to get used to. | | Similar Products Used: | Gary Fisher Tassajara | | Bike Setup: | Mostly Stock. Switched out the tires and rims to Crossmax SLs w/ 1.95 Seracs. Swithed to a Sram/Truvativ drivetrain. | | Bottom Line: | Great bike for the price. Many of the Trek/Gary Fisher dealers are offering the 2007 for a reduced price. Switch the rear tire and rim. They make the ride sluggish. After the switch, the bike climbed as well as my hardtail. The lockout features are great. When the shock and fork were unlocked, the ride was good as it gets for a short travel bike. The deore shifters are crappy. The downshift lever is annoying to deal with. If you are close to 6ft tall I would also recommend a longer stem. This is a great transition bike from a hardtail to full suspension. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from Cary NC Date Reviewed: November 13, 2007 | | Duration Product Used: | Less than 1 month | | Price Paid: |
$999.00 | | Purchased At: | Cycling Spoken Here - Cary | | Strengths: | High speed handling. Smooth operation of all components. Climbs and decends well. Highly adjustable and very comfortable seat. Genesis geometry fits my short leg/long torso body very well. Most comfortable bike I have ever ridden. | | Weaknesses: | The grips. They are hard and to small for my average sized hands. I think the bars could you more sweep but that is probably a personal preference. Feels a bit twitchy at low speeds but it is very easy to get around tight switch backs if I trust the bike and let it go. It is a couple of pounds heavier than my old Trek hardtail. I think alot of that may be in the wheels and it seems more noticeable when trying to accelerate at low speeds then when I am climbing at a faster pace. | | Bike Setup: | Stock | | Bottom Line: | This is my first full suspension bike so my insight is a bit limited. But, I do like the way it rides. I am still dialing in the suspension but so far it is working well. I had not really considered this bike until I saw the mark down they were giving it. Almost 900 off MSRP so I had to take it. I am very happy with it so far. I do wonder if I give up any bump absorption with the shorter travel but I really have nothing to compare it to. Value rating is based on what I gave for it, not MSRP. And I doc it one chilly because I am sure there are lighter bikes with more stable low speed handling out there. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |
