Strengths:Excellent frame design lets you climb easily, and greatly improves performance on descents
Weaknesses:Suntour XCR is a VERY poor excuse for a fork, V-brakes and rims are average
Similar Products Used:DH bike, XC bike
Bike Setup:Factory setup, upgraded with a RockShox Tora 318 fork and Avid Juicy 5 front brake.
Bottom Line:I got this bike because it was the only all-mountain bike at this price ($800). First impressions: the Suntour XCR fork was pure crap, bottomed out when applying the front brake and I had to replace it straight away with a Tora 318... The rear suspension, however, felt (and continues to feel) great! It really helps when climbing on bad roads because is sucks up the bumps and improves traction, and the "pogo" is unnoticeable. It's also great on downhills.

The brakes are below average. If you plan to upgrade to disc brakes, you must also consider the fact that you'll have to upgrade the hubs, rims and spokes as well, since they are not compatible with disc brakes.

Bottom line, if you want to use this bike for real all-mountain action and if you can afford it, go for a better model from the TransMission range, such as TransMission Speed Disc, which has a Recon fork, Manitou LRS shock and hydraulic Hayes brakes. This is a real 'entry level' all-mountain bike which needs some upgrading to be used for serious tracks.
