Description:The Flux is perhaps Turner's most versatile machine. It offers you a full 4” of travel with no compromise whatsoever to pedaling efficiency. The Flux essentially merges Turner's critically acclaimed 5 Spot frame with their cross country rocket, the Nitrous. A lightweight 5.6 pounds, the Flux is the ideal bike for endurance or marathon racers or those who still enjoy cross-country racing, but enjoy getting out for some “fun time” when not training.

Favoriate Trail:madonna
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $1500.00
Strengths:reliability, durability, build quality.
Weaknesses:weight-probably too heavy for xc racing as I have it built,
one water bottle mount
design is looking old compared to Pivot/Ibis/BMC/SC stuff
Similar Products Used:blur, nomad, RFX
Bike Setup:all xt, dt 240 wheels, Reba Team fork
Bottom Line:The frame is the last thing to break on this bike. I am sure I'll be fixing the fork/rear shock before frame pivots. The only annoying squeak come from my friends Santa Cruz frames.

I am very happy with the way this bike rides-especially coupled with the Fox RP3 It sprints like a hard tail when locked out and sucks of any thing I crash it into in the open-plush mode. I think the difference in suspension design-at least for short travel bikes is 90% hype. Get a Turner and rail worry free.

I ride this bike in our track in Jalur Pipa Gas near Jakarta and no problem to handle this bike in that track. This bike very responsive for climbing and descending. if you want to ride a reponsive bike with a good handling I suggest to use this one.

Bottom Line:Well here is a follow-up. After one year I am still extreemly pleased with my Flux. I am a very agressive trail rider and it has taken everything I have thrown at it in stride. This bike has exceptional climbing ability and great geometry.
Although my personal opinion is the TNT rear triangle is not as good as the Horst versions. Despite the reduced capabilities I believe tht this (and turner products in general) is an outstanding product with second to none customer service.

Favoriate Trail:Any long singletrack!
Duration Product Used:6 months

Strengths:Stiff, precise, surefooted, light, great looking.
Weaknesses:None yet
Similar Products Used:Yeti, Santa Cruz, NRS
Bike Setup:XT Crank and DRs, XTR cassette,Salsa QRs, King Hubs and 717 disc rims, Thomson SP and Stem, WTB ti team saddle, Raceface carbon riser bar, loc on grips, Avid BB7 cable disc brakes, lunar light tubes and small block 8 tires, Fox f100 fork. My goal was a bike that would be easy to maintain and last a long time. The bike is light but not dangerously light. It is an XL and weighs 26.5-27 lbs. I could have gone lighter, but then I would worry more.
Bottom Line:I love this bike. It rules. So stiff at speeds and the suspension feels like more than 4 in. in the bumps. Very predictable manners in all technical situations. I clear things I could not before this bike. The geometry is a great combination or XC and all mountain--I think Turner nailed it with this design. It handles 40 mph fireroad bombing and switchback singletracks full of babyhead rocks equally as well.

I ride hard 36-50 miles a week and have had no problems with the fittings at the pivots. I have not yet bought the grease gun for the zirk fittings yet, but I am sure I will. Suspension has stayed supple and repsonsive even with a muddy spring and super dusty summer.

I lean this bike into high speed corners without fear and jump with confidence because of the predictable nature of the handling. I am not a dirt jumber. I wanted a bike that could handle aggressive, sometimes sketchy riding without weighing a ton and which climbs well. I had a 6 inch bike that I never used all of its suspension and realized that I needed something else.

Also, I got a killer deal from Competetive cyclist. Those guys are awesome. I called them at noon their time on a Wednesday. They took my order, built a custom set of wheels for me to my spec, built the bike and had it shipped via 2 day air that day. I had my bike on Friday morning! Also, they did not whine about swapping parts or take offs on a group, and did a good enough job of matching one of the loss-leader mega phone order stores( won't tell you who, but it might rhyme with Rollokado spikelist), that I happily paid a bit more to do the business with them. I am really glad I did. I would buy everything I can from them in the future. I suggest you do to.

Favoriate Trail:anything at Mammoth!
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $1695.00
Purchased At:Redhawk Bikes
Strengths:Everything! As built this bike is around 24 pounds. Climbs like a rocket. Extremely efficient frame that accelerates rapidly, sticks to rough climbs and descents, and eats up singletrack. Amazing handling.
Weaknesses:Blue finish is wearing through from cables after 6 months. Who really cares though?!?! It's a mtb for goodness sake!
Similar Products Used:Specialized Enduro Comp (not really comparable though)
Bike Setup:Fox 32 F100 RLC, FSA Carbon Bars/Seatpost/Stem, King Headset, SRAM XO trigger shifters, XO rear der, XT front der, FSA carbon crankset, Mavic Crossmax SL wheels with Maxxis Crossmark running tubeless, Magura Marta SL front and rear brakes, WTB Rocket V saddle, YETI grips...
Bottom Line:2006 model with TNT and RP3 reviewed. I have really enjoyed this bike. It's costly, but worth every penny. I am a fairly serious rider with a few endurance races behind me and this bike just performs. It's a joy for an easy cruise, and can effortlessly transition to racing. I am definitely the weakest point on this bike, but it inspires confidence. I have been able to ride things I would never have thought possible. Worth spending more to get this frame for the long haul. You won't regret it! I know I will never ride anything else. Highly recommended for riders who are looking to push the limits, and have a lot of fun doing it! You'll feel like a little kid who just got his first bike for Christmas.

If you're used to a bike with significantly different geometry, reserve your judgement until you have at least 5 rides under your belt. Coming from the Enduro was a bit of a shock to my system, but I could never go back!

If you're in the Temecula area, Dennis at Redhawk Bicycles has great prices and customer service. He has earned my loyalty for all future business.

Bottom Line:CONSTRUCTION:
Turner craftsmanship is outstanding. The bike just feels right. I went through months of adjustments with my Blur and never got quite comfortable. The Flux fit like a glove from the get-go. The rear triangle allows for wide tire clearance and doesn't go anywhere - just hooks up with the ground.

MAINTENANCE:
With my Blur I was constantly chasing down creaks, doing silly maintenance and replacing the pivots every year. The Flux uses bushings which you grease every once in a while through little "zerk" ports. The bushings last years and have tighter tolerances than most bearing systems. You ride your bike instead of working on it.

RIDE QUALITY:
Nimble, fast & confidence-inspiring. Climb like a rabid ram then bomb down the other side. You are the limit, not the bike.

CUSTOMER SERVICE:
I hear it's is superb but haven't needed it yet. Word is that Dave Turner takes care of his peeps.

PARTING SHOT:
The Flux is a fantastic do-it-all bike. It's light enough to handle enduro/XC racing and tough enough for all-day mountain rides.

Strengths:Everything, this bike is awesome. The very low maintenance pivot bushings, racy geometry, super fast corning, suspension design, etc., etc., etc.
Weaknesses:None. Maybe the price but it's well worth every dime.
Bottom Line:Can't say enough about this bike. It rides better than words can describe. The Flux is super fast, corners incredibly well especially at speed, very deliberate steering and is not twitchy at all. It's hard to say which is more fun, the climbs or the decents. The design is great and the bike is very well made down to the welds. The new TNT design is great, no bob and no jack whatsoever. Hands down best bike I have every ridden.

Strengths:Climbing and singletrack handling. Pretty light weight. Plus you've just gotta love the fact that it's handbuilt in the USA.
Weaknesses:Really none so far. Decals suck if you care.
Similar Products Used:Santa Cruz Blur XC, Kona King
Bike Setup:SRAM X-9 drivetrain, Formula K-24 brakes, King hubs w/ Stan's 355 rims, Race Face Deus-X Crank
Bottom Line:This is really an awesome bike for aggressive XC/trail riding. Probably wouldn't take it to Whistler, but I've given it a good beating on very technical singletrack with lots of roots and rock gardens. Takes 3 to 4 foot drops no sweat (I'm 170). Climbs excellent and handles technical singletrack better than any bike I've ridden. This bike is very forgiving; when I miss my line it practically recovers on it's own. No noticable bob on out of the saddle accelerating or climbing.

It's definately expensive but the price is on par with other elite frames like Titus, Ellsworth, and Intense. Absolutely worth the price if you can afford it. Turner builds an awesome machine.

4 value chilis because it breaks the bank.
5 overall chilis because now I'll never ride anything else.

Strengths:Build quality, awesomely beautiful build quality, plush, plush rear end, bottomless travel, amazingly fast in all conditions. It is the perfect XC bike!
Weaknesses:The head tube badge has become a little unstuck:-)
Similar Products Used:'97 Marin Rift Zone, '03 Marin XC FRS
Bike Setup:Turner Flux, Reba Team, XT/XTR, Hope, Thomson, Chris King etc tec
Bottom Line:This is the finest frame I have ever ridden end of story. I have never ridden a bike that looks so right and handles any situation without a flap.

It's hard to describe how bottomless the rear end feels. But because there's no stiction in the rear end and the Fox RP3 works so well, I find myself constantly pushing my limits further and further knowing the bike can take everything I'll ever throw at it.

The balance and poise of the frame is also spot on. Whether you're nailing singletrack, climbing or hurtling downhill it just gets on with it and I can only put that down to the low C of G.

Occasionally I've been caught out in ruts because I'm used to hardtail and a more or less contast BB height, but aside from that I cannot fault this bike.

I test rode a FiveSpot before buying the Flux and the Flux seems just as able a bike. Admittedly the FiveSpot is built to take more abuse, but if you want a top notch XC bike that eats anything you can throw at it for breakfast, it's worth the price tag.

The Turner reputation is clearly well deserved!

Similar Products Used:GT Ricochet (the reat GT one), KHS Team ST (junk), Yeti AS-R SL, Yeti 575, Ventana X-5
Bike Setup:Basic build with carbon OS bars and UST rims with Schalbe Nobby Nic tires
Bottom Line:I've ridden a lot of bikes and I'm enjoying this one a lot. It is stiff yet extremely plush for a 4" travel bike. It climbs well and has a slgightly forgiving ride. The 70 degree HT angle is PERFECT for me and the frame a light.
It does everything very well and does climb extremely well but the way it tracks around fast corners is addictive. The excellent Ventana frames do the same and are even stiffer but the Flux feels more planted at the same speed.

I love the bike but I wish I had bought the green one. Buy it if you love trailbikes that can be raced as well. If you're a hardcore XC racer who has to have a 71 or greater HT angle, you may not like it since the Flux isn't very twitchy. I hate twitchy bikes so I love the Flux. No worries- it isn't too relaxed either. It is just perfect.

I ride technical and rocky trail and it does great. It does have a noisy chain issue but my chain is a bit loose. I'll love a link and see if that improves.

Bottom Line:Bike Details:
The bike weighs approx 10.8 kg using my scales at home and subtracting my weight from the bike.
The total cost was $7600 Australian dollars)
3 years of saving, 1 year to finilise bike, 1 month to blow cash.
This has been a bike that has been built light but with easy service, and low maintance costs for future riding. The xt and race face cranks have better wear than xtr one's although they are a bit heavier wear longer and are cheaper to replace than xtr ones. The mavic rims for my type of riding are a lightweight wheel set that will the distance.
I ride agressive cross country, race and alot of trail riding with 1 metre drops etc. So i needed a well built bike that could stand alot of thrashing and still be good enough to wipe the dirt off and race it. I am really happy with the bike so far and it has lived up to every exceptation i have placed on it. I feel less fatigued riding it on the long distances, very forgiving well no bad words here. I am sure there are may bikes that would suit other riders better than this one but for the style of riding i do this was the best choise available.

Strengths:Very stiff lateraly, yet it rides so smooth. This bike is without a doubt the best bike I have ever owned. I have been riding mountain bikes for 15 years and racing for about 10. I have had numerous hardtails and have spent the last 4 years on a Fisher Sugar 1. I have so much more control and feel so comfortable on this bike. The detail and workmanship is fantastic. I have spent about 25 hours and 2 races on this bike. I purachsed it from Competitive Cyclist after riding a demo from them.
